Stanley Sorenson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 8, 2009.
Sorenson, Stanley Woodrow, Jr. (aka Butch) of Apple Valley MN, passed away peacefully on Nov- ember 2, 2009 after a long and courageous battle with Emphysema, Chronic Myeloid Leukemia, and a painful Osteoporosis. He was preceded in death by his twin sons, Ryan Woodrow, and Robert William, and his parents, Stanley and Ella Sorenson. He is survived by sisters, Mary Beth Mohagen, Linda Miceli (Tony) and his nephew, Dennis Mohagen. He will be greatly missed by family and many friends. Stan enlisted in the US Navy at the age of 17 and served on the aircraft carrier, USS Hancock. He worked with ordinance in the Navy, and after an honorable discharge, continued his ordinance career for a few years at Technical Ordinance in MN. He also had worked at Pako, a company that manufactured Film Development equipment, before moving to Toro. He was a 23 year employee of the Toro Company, and retired from Toro in September of 2008. Stan was actively involved in AA since 1983 and was a sponsor to many over the years. He was a special "Grandpa" in his heart to Josh, whom he loved very much. Stan has donated his remains to the University of Minnesota Department of Anatomy, where he hoped something could be learned from all the disease processes that were going on in his body. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials preferred to Al-Anon, or the American Lung Association.
