Jennifer Wilder Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 15, 2009.
Wilder, Jennifer Helen Age 49, died November 13 at home in Shorewood, surrounded by her beloved family: husband, Thomas, son, Daniel (Kelly) of Minneapolis; daughters, Megan and Jena; mother, Ann Nell Schneider of Glendale, Wisconsin; sisters, Susan (Ralph) Harrison of Minnetrista and Pamela Schneider of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin; brother, John Schneider of Shorewood and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. Jennifer is preceded in death by her father, Daniel Schneider. Jennifer was a devoted mother who loved supporting her children's activities. She was a Girl Scout leader for years, culminating with a mother- daughter trip to Italy in 2004. Tall, strong, and beautiful, Jenny was a lifelong athlete who was a competitive high school swimmer. She jogged, biked, skied, and was a mean beach volleyball player. Highly creative, she co-founded Wildwood Furnishings with her husband when they were young parents and was an artist-in-residence at the Centennial Area Learning Center in Circle Pines from 2001-04. She loved spending time with her family and Yooper friends on the Lake Superior beach property in Michigan. She also was passionate about spending time at the Big Trout Lake cabin with all her family and friends. Jennifer attended the University of Minnesota, where she met Tom. A service in celebration of her life will be held at 2 PM Tuesday at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, 3675 Arboretum Drive, Chaska (MacMillan Auditorium), with visitation one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations to the Minneapolis Foundation are encouraged in Jennifer's memory to increase awareness of inflammatory breast cancer (IBC), a rare, aggressive and frequently lethal form of cancer. ("Jennifer Wilder IBC Awareness Fund"). Huber Funeral & Cremation Services Excelsior Chapel 952-474-9595 www.huberfunerals.com

We’ve known Jenny since she was 17 years old and loved her as a dear friend ever since. She has an infectious spirit, is a devoted mother to three wonderful young people, and the life love of her husband Tom. We miss her, but treasure the fact we knew her, loved her and shared part of her incredible life. Godspeed, Jenny. With much love, Sally & David Owens

Tom,

I never met Jennifer, but I was touched by the tribute to her life. Simply the list of those who were there at the end is a great tribute to having lived well and loved well. Sorry for your loss. You are in my prayers tonight. (EW'77)

Dear Tom, Jena, Megan and Danny,

Thank you--and Jenny-- for opening your home and hearts to family and friends during Jenny's last two days of life. It was a very loving and generous action, and a privilege to be part of the sacred space you created.
The service, every part of it, was a beautiful tribute to Jenny's full and inspiring life. Her legacy lives on in all of you. I miss her -- and you.

Love, (Aunt/Sister) Jennifer ("Maine Jenni")

Chats at the bus stop or at Jane's; a fountain drink after the kids went off to school; going for runs; help with my gardens; comparing home improvement projects; offering to help put down pavers on my enormous driveway in exchange for helping her with hers (my personal favorite -- Dan thought she was crazy for that one). Memories I will always keep with me. We'll miss her.

Dear Tom, Jenna and family,
Our hearts are heavy as we will miss Jenny also. We so enjoyed cheering on the hockey and lacrosse team with her. Win or loss she was always so much fun to sit with. She was so proud of you Jenna and she loved to watch you play. We will miss her smiles and laughter but we know that she will still be with you Jenna always, just in a different way now. Look for signs.
Love and prayers,
Susan, Paul, Brooke and Abbey

Dear Tom, Danny, Megan and Jenna,

We are so sad for your loss of such a wonderful woman and mom. We've not been in touch for awhile, but on hearing the news, along with feeling great sadness, fond memories came flooding back from the U of M days, and the beyond, as we were all beginning to find our way.

I'm so glad to have been part of your lives, at least at the beginning. Glad Ellen had a chance to meet you all. Know that our thoughts will be with you...

This is from Ellen - although I only had the opportunity to meet up with Jenny a few times, whenever Randy mentions Tom and Jenny Wilder, what comes to mind is how warm and welcoming Jenny was with me when I was meeting the "gang" before Randy and I were married, and Oh, what a beautiful smile on that beautiful face of Jenny. We have both been so saddened since hearing about her death and the challenges your family has had to face the past several months, and there really aren't any words to express our sympathy, but please know that we are now thinking about you and speaking about you and sharing memories - which will never ever leave go away.
