So sorry to hear about Joe's passing. My family lived on St. paul Avenue, just down the street and my brother Michael and I were at St. Leos with Joe. I always rememberd that he and I were chosen time and again to illustrate stories on the blackboard covered with large rolls of butcher paper. Second grade teacher, Sister Dennis found out we were budding artists and made us the workhorses for all her classroom art. Even after we left second grade, she still would call us out of higher classes to help out her projects! She really made us feel that art was a worthwhile pursuit and her nurturing of our talent made a world of difference to me as I believe it did with Joe. I am still a professional artist as Joe was. Such a talent he had and I am glad was able to enrich other people lives with it.

Hennessy Family,
I dated Joe many years ago and, even though we drifted apart, I thought of him often. I'm so glad he was successful in his field but so sorry that he had to die so young. My condolences to your family.

Joe was always so supportive of my singing. I hadn't seen him in a while, but whenever I did see him, he never failed to have a tip for some club to check out. I hope good homes have been found for all of his wonderful art.

Joe and I grew up together on Montreal Ave. We went through grade school and HS together. We had many adventures over the years. After HS I joined the navy and Joe went to college. We had drifted apart over the years but I still considered him a life long friend. I too raided the indian head cookie jar at the Hennessy house when ever I visited. Who could forget the "Custers Last Stand" picture in the basement too! I am truely sadden to hear of his passing. It seems as though an era has conluded. Especially since my 1924 Montreal homebase of 60+ years has recently been sold. The old neighbor hood is forever changed. Please celebrate his life for me as it was a great one! The memory of spending many fun hours at the Hennessy house still lingers. Joe's mom always seemed to have batch of cookies ready for us. Joe was an interesting guy who always seemed to have a smile and a good word when every I bumped into him. He will be missed.

Hennessy family,
We have had the great pleasure of having your folks and Joe Jr. as neighbors for years. You have such a kind and loving family. Joe was always a nice man to talk to and so helpful. I remember not only his art but his genuine interest in other people. He used to drive your mom to church and help her in and out of the car. Joe was a great guy.
