Several years ago, Dr. Paul was the first doctor to diagnoise my illness with some understanding of the suffering I experienced. Later, we became friends but I will always remember him telling me, "Don't worry, I am your doctor." I lost touch after I regained my life, in large part due to his help, and I was dumbstruck today when I learned he had died. The city, the country, and the world has lost an incredible soul when Dr. Jeevan Paul left this world. I know his family has suffered a terrible loss. So have we all.

I just read the Goshen Bulletin and was stunned when I read the news. My Condolences to his family and close ones. May the memory of his smile, his passion to help others and his zest for life be with us all. (Goshen 1990)

My husband and I were both very saddened by the news of Dr. Paul's death. He had been our doctor for over 5 years. We followed him from Model Cities clinic to Park Nicollet and hated to see him leave that system. He was a very caring man who took the time to talk to you in "plain english". He always made time to see you and gave us his personal phone numbers in case of emergency. There will never be another man or doctor in our life as gracious or caring as Dr. Paul. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and we are hoping they are coping without him in their daily lives. God Bless you and Dr. Paul.

Like many others, I was saddened to see the item of Jeevan's death in the Goshen College Bulletin. Jeevan is one of those persons with whom I have a short time together, but whom you never forget. I, too, trust that his family is comforted by all these kind entries.

I don't know when my June Goshen College Bulliten came but I just saw it tonight. My interest quickened to see Jeevan's name and I smiled in anticipation of news of a long-out-of-touch friend. I quickly read, "Jeevan Paul '90, Minneapolis, Minn., April 25." Not understanding, I was stunned to see the heading above: "Death". So stark, so abrupt, that word twisted my insides. Now having read in these entries what Jeevan's life has meant since I last saw him, I am stricken again. But I am also deeply touched by the testimonies to Jeevan's immense love and care for all he met. And I am humbled by his faithfulness and integrity to his beliefs. I knew him as medical student, co-worker and most blessedly, friend. I know he had worries, but Jeevan always demonstrated that same firm-gentle compassion and the evident delight in life that he shared with others. Despite the years, I feel his loss acutely along with so many. I am also reminded to try to emmulate such a beautiful, selfless life. Thank you, Jeevan. I pray that you are at peace and your family has some comfort knowing how much you mean to so many.

There were many students who made an impact on my life while I served as Campus Minister at Goshen College, but none made such a lasting impression as Jeevan did. His love, care, and compassion for others permeated his entire being. I am saddened to hear of his death, but believe he truly lived up to his desire to serve others with dignity, respect, and compassion. Rest in peace, Jeevan.

My sympathy to Jeevan's family. I was deeply saddened to just find out about his death. I was a classmate of his and fellow science major at Goshen College. We all knew he would be a truly compassionate and wonderful doctor someday, and by the guest book entries from several patients it appears that is exactly what he was.

We were so sorry to hear about Jeevan's death. We knew him as a student at Goshen College. He was such a kind, intelligent and thoughtful person. It's not surprising to see so many of his patients writing how he helped and cared for them. Our heartfelt sympathy for his family.

I shared classes with Jeevan while at Goshen College, and always regarded him as one of the best and brightest.
Although we were not close friends, my experiences at GC were deeply enriched by his presence. He cared about the people around him, just as I'm sure he cared for his patients.
His presence amongst us will be greatly missed.

I only knew Dr. Paul for two to three months, as one of his patients. During that short time he not only helped me decrease my medications by 1/2, but also showed a real concern for my health. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing, and extend my condolences to all friends and family. May he rest in peace.

Jeevan:
We were so deeply saddened to hear about your death! Indeed, this was not only a devastating blow to us, but to all your patients, friends and medical colleagues alike!
I don't think I will ever be priileged enough to have a doctor again, who was as nurturing and caring as Dr. Paul!
In the two short years I knew Dr. Paul,he saved my life twice-and he looked beyond my physical challenges to treat me like an an average woman! We knew Jeevan was a special person when he dubbed Mom,an angel for being my caregiver!
May you rest in peace,Dr. Jeevan Paul,M.D.! We respected you...and We WILL NEVER FORGET YOU!
Your patient and friends,

It's hard for me to comprehend the means of Jeevan's death. I (as many others) remember him as such a vibrant, passionate, and compassionate soul. My deepest sympathy to Jeya, who has yet another familial hardship to navigate. Jeevan will likely continue to live on through the multitudes of people he touched, in ways that we will not always comprehend.
Peace to your soul, Jeevan Paul.

This morning I was told of the passing of my doctor, Dr. Jeevan Paul. The feeling of shock and sadness can’t describe the impact his death has made on me. I have never in my life met a physician who showed true compassion the way he did. Dr. Paul treated me as a person and not just another patient. When he would enter the room and ask, “ How are you doing?” he wasn’t just being polite, he truly wanted to know. His compassion showed in his eyes and in his words. My deepest sympathy goes to all who had the privilege of knowing Dr. Paul. To his family and those closest to him, my prayers are with you in this very difficult time. Dr. Paul will be missed and never forgotten by all the people who’s lives he touched.

I just found out today, while calling to reschedule my appointment, that Dr. Paul died and I am so sorry. My deepest sympathy to Jeevan's family. I just want you to know that he was so kind and compassionate as a doctor and human being. I enjoyed our visits at the Pain Clinic and he was always so encouraging - it was like he truly understood your pain and would not quit until he was able to give you some relief. I hope you continue to watch over me and rest in peace. Kathleen Berg

Jeevan lived with intensity and conviction, and it is hard to express the impression he left on so many of us. Although a decade has gone by since Jeevan and I last spoke, I always sought news of him and expected one day to share laughter and stories -- chuckles of wisdom as we looked back at our shared history, and a sense of marvel at the ongoing pain and miracle of living. Among the unforgettable instances is a spontaneous pancake "communion" at daybreak down by the dam in Goshen. I am thankful that the load Jeevan carried for so long is lifted even as I mourn his loss. Above all, I celebrate Jeevan's life.

Our deepest sympathies to Jeevan's family. What a loss! As friends of Jeevan since college we appreciated his deep care, especially for the less fortunate ones of our world. We needed his challenges to live fully to our potential and into our values. We enjoyed his teasing and playfulness. What great sadness is in our hearts today as we live without Jeevan in the world. And yet we trust Jeevan to God's care.

I met Jeevan when he was a medical student rotating through Hennepin County Medical Center. I remember long nights of call with long talks with Jeevan He was so full of idealism and compassion and was so ready to fulfill his role as a special kind of physician. I also had the please of working with Jeevan as an intern at HCMC. He held steadfast to his beliefs, values and ideals about the role a physician could play in someone's life. I hadn't heard much about him since but was able to read some stuff I found in a google search and all the guest book entries. I was so happy to see he had become what he set out to be. Dying young never seems to make sense especially when one has such great potential. He touched so many lives at HCMC. I am deeply saddened by his death and the loss of such a great man. My thoughts and prayers are with his co-workers, patients, friends & family. God bless.

I only had the honor to see Dr. Paul once as his patient and then was told of his death. I am very saddened to learn that he has left us. I knew I had finally found a Dr. who understood my health situation and he showed such compassion and encouragement to me. He truly was a light in my life. Although I'd lost touch with Jeevan in recent years, it does not surprise me to read about the many lives he had touched as a Physician. Hi, I am writing this on behalf of my mom because she don't speak or write English. She is one of Dr. Paul's patient for years now and when she heard about his death, she broke out in tears. She says that he is one of the kindest and helpful person she ever met. He helped her through her worst situations and he always had a smile on his face when she goes to see him. He makes my mom feel alot better about her life when she's depressed. We will always remember Dr. Paul in our hearts. We pray that he is in a better place now and he's happy where he is. Three years after I last saw Dr. Paul, I felt some urge to see how he was doing. I made a call to Park Nicolet clinic where He was transfered from Open cities clinic and was told He has moved to another location; that was on April 25,2005. Three days later I was told of his death. I am numb, saddened and confused by his death. He was a great Doctor who cared for his patients regardless of color and socioeconomic status. I will miss him very much. Oh! what a loss!!
