Stanley John "Sonny" Pikula Jr., 87, of Peru, passed away Friday, October 24, 2025 at Allure of Peru.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, October 27, 2025 at St. Valentine's Church, Peru with Rev. Gary Blake, pastor officiating. Burial will follow in Peru City Cemetery with full military rites conducted by the Peru Veterans Memorial Group. Visitation will be 9-10:20 AM Monday at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to the Mueller Funeral Home, Peru.
Mr. Pikula was born July 29, 1938 in LaSalle to Stanley Sr. and Ruth (Stevens) Pikula. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1961-1963, and was stationed in Germany. He married the love of his life, Bonnie Faul on September 9, 1967 at St. Mary's Church in Peru.
Mr. Pikula was a former member of St. Mary's Church in Peru where he was active as an usher for over 30 years and worked at the Under Seller for many years. He was currently a member of St. Valentine's Church in Peru and had been active in the former Family Circle group. He was also a member of the Ladd Moose for over 50 years. Mr. Pikula was a member of Local 393 from 1966, retiring in 2001, and worked for Ladd Industrial and many years for Trovero Construction. Mr. Pikula loved playing cards with the guys, especially euchre. His greatest joy was family gatherings where he loved talking about his beloved Los Angeles Dodgers. He also enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie; one brother, Gary (Helen) Pikula of Ladd; his sisters, Janice Garzanelli of Peru and Diane (Jerry) Savage of Cary; eight nieces and nephews, Gene (Marsha) Pikula, Tammi (John Vlastnik) Garzanelli, Pete Garzanelli Jr., Angela (Michael) Rodriguez, Dan (Dinah) Pikula, Bill (Ana) Pikula, Amber (Terry) Milby, and Cameron Savage; and many great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Eugene (Sandra) Pikula; and one brother-in-law, Pete Garzanelli Sr.
Pallbearers will be Gene Pikula, Steven Valdez, Kyle Pikula, Danny Pikula, Bill Pikula, Cameron Savage, Jerry Savage, and Gary Pikula.
