William von Rosenberg Obituary

William Frederick von Rosenberg, Jr. William Frederick von Rosenberg, Jr. of Austin, Texas passed away on April 18, 2013, at the age of 90. He was born in Austin, Texas on November 8, 1922, and was a fourth generation Austinite and fifth generation Texan. He graduated from Austin High School in 1940. He married Betty Jo Brown in 1942 and had two sons, William Frederick von Rosenberg III and Roger von Rosenberg. In 1972 he married Carol Jean Smith, who survives him. He was in the Texas National Guard and worked for the Air Force as their Senior Aircraft Electrician. In 1958, he opened his own business, Von Supply Company, which prospered for over 35 years. He was involved in the Associated General Contractors of America, Optimist Club, Elks Club and the Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Frederick von Rosenberg and Dessie May Holcomb von Rosenberg; his sister, Cherie Jo von Rosenberg Alexander; and his stepdaughter, Renee Atkinson. In addition to his wife Carol, Bill is survived by his son William Frederick von Rosenberg III and wife Susan; his son Roger von Rosenberg and wife Robin; stepson Scott Robinson; and son-in-law Keith Atkinson. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Lesley Morris, Ross von Rosenberg, Lauren Vandiver, Will von Rosenberg, Luke Atkinson, Alexandria Atkinson, Sam Atkinson, and Isaac Atkinson. He is also survived by his great grandchildren: Nicholas Morris, Josie Murillo, Tyler Morris, and Johnny Vandiver. If Bill could not repair something, he fashioned a new piece. As a master of all trades, he was a tailor, an electrician, an architect, a mechanic and a life-long learner. At the age of 82, he became a computer whiz; there was nothing he could not do. He built his business from nothing, and it became one of the most successful businesses in Austin. But most of all, he adored his family. He cherished the times he spent with his two sons fishing and hunting. His loss will be felt for generations to come. He and Carol loved to travel and spent many happy years travelling with an RV club. In addition, they enjoyed visiting global destinations such as Africa and China. The family would like to thank Heartland Health Care Center for their care of Bill during his stay there. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to a charity of your choice. A memorial service to celebrate Bill's life will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, April 29, 2013, at Red River Church, 4425 Red River St., Austin, TX 78751, with his son-in-law, Keith Atkinson, officiating.

Carol...I am so honored to have known Bill while working at Heartland. A gently kind soul he was.I am glad I was able to bring a smile and heartfelt joy to him with the Bell Ringer Program and Maddie (Chihuahua) dressing in her outfits. Bill really enjoyed her.I was glad to have been with you both an hour or so before Bill passed...looking back maybe he knew as he awoke and reached for my hand.
Carol...he was so lucky to have you as you where to have him. Be strong as I know you can...Bill is at Peace. Love to you and the family.

I'm so sorry to hear of Bill's passing. Bill's love for his family and friends was known by everyone that was close to him. He was one of the most keen business people I had ever meet, in fact he gave me my first job in the construction industry 30 years ago. He will be truly missed.

With all my sympathy,
