Charles Scott Kaler

Charles Scott Kaler (Scotty) 1919-2013 Charles Scott Kaler (Scotty) 1919-2013, Colonel, USAF Retired, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2013 in Brownsville, TX. His distinctive 34 year military career spanned 3 wars and 3 continents, from 1942-1976, receiving numerous medals and awards in WWII, Korea, and Viet Nam, including the Legion of Merit and the Bronze Star. After retiring in 1976, he and his wife Kay moved to Austin, TX, where she predeceased him in 2002, after 62 years of marriage. Scotty leaves behind two daughters, Karen Lea Simon of NV and husband Ted, Kathy Kaler Bufford of TX and husband John, 4 grandchildren, Kristin Richmond, Jeff Simon, Erin McCullough, Mark Stephenson, and 3 great-grandchildren, Taylor Stephenson, Sydney & Brady Richmond. Scotty lived his life to the fullest, and will be remembered for his great sense of humor and dedication to his family. He was loving and inspirational, and our family will miss him dearly.
