Lilia Castro Valdez Our beloved Lilia Castro Valdez "Ama", passed away December 8th, 2012 in Austin, TX with her family by her side. Lilia was born in Edna, TX on August 13th, 1926. "Ama" was a beautiful, strong, devoted wife and mother. In her younger days she loved music, dancing and dressing up. She was a hard worker who always put family first. Most recently she enjoyed her lottery scratch off tickets while sitting on her front porch. You could also see her any day of the week at anyone of her favorite restaurants in East Austin. "Ama" was loved by so many and will be dearly missed. Lilia was survived by her husband of 67yrs; Apolonio Valdez Sr., 1 brother; Robert Castro Sr., 1 sister; Matilde Benavides; 7 children; Apolonio Jr., Armando Sr., Ismael Sr., Francisco Sr., Marcos Sr., Diana and Alisia; 20 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren among numerous other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter San Juanita Valdez Ybarra. Viewing and Rosary Ceremony will be held at Mission Funeral Home 1615 E. Cesar Chavez. Viewing will begin at 1pm and Rosary at 7pm on Wednesday, December 12th. Funeral Ceremony will be held at St. Julia Catholic Church 3010 Lyons Rd at 10am on Thursday, December 13th.
