After graduating high school, Doug began his education at Chaffee Junior College, Ontario, CA. It was during his time at Chaffee that he met the love of his life, Wilma Irene Mosher; they were married on June 30, 1946. Doug served his country honorably in the United States Navy during WWII, and upon returning home continued his education, graduating from The University of Texas in January of 1947 with his Bachelor's in Chemistry. Doug worked for over 35 years for Mobile Oil as an Operations Manager. His career with Mobile started in Torrance, California, where he worked for over 13 years before he and his family were transferred to Socony Mobil in New York City travelling to and fro from Westport, Connecticut: then to Augusta, Kansas before finally settling in Beaumont, Texas where he retired in 1981. Doug and Wilma travelled all over the world and enjoyed meeting new people and places. Being avid golfers, they took a trip to Scotland to play golf and also toured Korea, Europe and the Orient. Their adventures also took them on cruises to many different ports of call and they took their motor home on a trip to Alaska. For the last 18 years, Wilma and Doug have lived in the Berry Creek Garden Homes, next door to their daughter and son-in-law. Doug was an avid reader, at times reading a book a day. He was a "Fixer", tackled the hard projects that no one else could fix. Doug loved working on his yard and gardening. Doug is preceded in death by his parents, Irwin and Wilma Miller; his brother-in-law, Gene Tetreault; his sisters-in-law, Betty Miller and Marian Mosher; and his nephew, Bill Mosher.
