Judy Pietsch Judith Selma Emily (Gummelt) Pietsch, age 61, of Austin was called home on July 7, 2005 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Judy was born on April 9, 1944, in Victoria, Texas to Rev. Walter B. and Selma (Simon) Gummelt. She was baptized by her father on April 30 at St. Paul s Lutheran Church, Edna, Texas. Judy was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother who will be terribly missed by her family and friends. Her childhood was spent living throughout Texas, Louisiana, and Alabama. She married Roy V. Pietsch in Winchester, Texas on July 11, 1964, and settled in Austin to raise her family. She attended the University of Texas, and graduated from Brackenridge Hospital School of Nursing in 1965. She touched countless lives in 40 years as a Registered Nurse in Austin, most recently at St. David s Hospital. Judy was a very active member of Christ Lutheran Church in Austin, where she fulfilled her passion for teaching Sunday school to children, singing in the choir and serving on various boards. Judy is survived by her husband, Roy; son, Darrell and his wife, Rhonda of Waco, Texas, and their children Haley, Madison, and Hayden; son, Duane and his wife, Tish of Austin, Texas, and their children Caden and Grayson; sister, Marcia and husband, Tim Bayer of Houston, Texas; sister, Kathy and husband, Gene Bartels of Manheim, Texas; brother, Michael and wife, Diane Gummelt of California; brother-in- law, Clarence Pietsch and wife, Helen of Austin, Texas; sister-in-law, Lillian Pietsch of Winchester, Texas; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home on Sunday, July 10, 2005, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Services will be at Christ Lutheran Church, 300 E. Monroe, Monday, July 11, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. followed by burial at Forest Oaks at 2:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, Austin; Hospice Austin; or a charity of your choice.
