Beautiful lady inside and out. Such a bright and loving flame. I am honored to have known her and appreciative of her kind and generous support she offered me as role model and friend. Miss her always.

Ahhhh dear Barbara! I am so sad to hear of your passing. You have been such a bright light in my life even though we haven't seen each other in quite a few years. I was thinking of you just last week and smiling about wonderful times spent in your company. Once we met, you brought me into your life with such graciousness, generosity, and candor. Being around you was always a delight. I also felt mentored by your very way of being. You were an angel the lives of so many. I know you rest in peace from a life well lived and to its fullest. Prayers, blessings and love for Blake, all your family and dearest friends as they recover from this sudden loss. Your presence will be so missed.

Barbara and I were bike-ridding buddies back in grade school in Gonzales. And then journeyed through junior high and high school before embarking on our separate paths.
You could not find a sweeter person.
Blessings on her family.

Barbara was the most beautiful woman. She was as gorgeous on the inside as she was on the outside. She made such a difference in my life. I knew her for all of my childhood and she inspired me to be kind and compassionate while being strong and knowing anything was possible. She taught me how to make a difference while being a wonderful mother to so many of us. Blakes friends were also her children and she took each one of us under her wing. The world has lost an angel but the effects of her beauty will live on in each of us and the changes she personally created in the world make our lives brighter. All my love to the family. There are to many stories to tell to honor this wonderful beautiful mother and grandmother. God bless!!

My acquaintance with Barb was through the Chautauqua Institution. She was a gem and I could share many stories but there is one in particular that will always pop-up when I think of her. Sarah Weddington was the Saturday speaker for the Women's Club. My son was in high school at the time and active in the Sports Club. I wanted him to meet this icon in the women's rights movement. After a call to Barb to have a little gathering on my deck after the presentation to which she replied: "Are we ALL invited?" and I said of course. We had an amazing gathering. Sarah worked the crowd (my neighbors and friends) and ended with my son T. C. and his friend Derek. Their picture is on my desk as I write. Weddington was an inspiration and she loved chatting with the boys and none of this would have happened without Barb. It is a highlight of my CHQ life and I will always remember Barb's dedication and drive. RIP BARB

What a gift Barabara was to the world and to all who were fortunate enough to have her life path cross theirs. She was such a gentle soul on the outside, but held a depth of immeasurable strength and determination on the inside.
God Bless her soul and please watch after her family. Thank you for letting my life path cross hers.

Barbara and I worked together at Texans for the ERA. Her love of life and passion for the causes she believed in were contagious. She was a unique woman who made a difference. My condolences to Blake and her family as they mourn her loss.

I am so shocked and saddened seeing this. I I have thought of her so much and tried to make contact for many years. I worked as her assistant in 1985-1987. She was so good to me and I thought the world of her.
My deepest sympathies to her family.

What a splendid memorial to Barbara, a strong woman who did matter, who did make a difference. Young women, copy this memorial, learn from it and say thank you for Barbara Vackar, a trailblazer whose life work for women made yours easier to navigate. Peace and grace, Barbara.
