Clyde CARLIG Obituary

CARLIG, Clyde Emil John Clyde Emil John Carlig, 85, died Tuesday, August 29, 2017, peacefully at home following a long battle with leukemia. Clyde (CJ) was a loving partner to Kay and wonderful father to his children: Craig (Kathleen), Holly (John), Brad, Todd (Angela) grandchildren Kailey, Ryan, Sean, Abigail, Ailsa, Ian, Caitlin and great grandchildren James and John Ellis (Kailey). CJ was a special friend to Kay's family: Michael (Erica), Patrick, Matthew (Camila) and their wonderful children who CJ regarded as "his" family who he loved dearly. CJ was a devout Catholic born and raised in Chicago the first generation son of Giovanni and Antonia Carlig from the Fruli-Venezia Giulia region of Northern Italy. CJ attended University of Kentucky and was very proud to have played football for Paul "Bear" Bryant. After college he served our country during the Korean War, he settled in Chicago and raised his children while working in advertising and land development. After meeting his loving partner, Kay, CJ moved to Georgetown, Texas where he developed many close friendships in Sun City and was able to indulge in his passions: artwork, cooking, spending time with his family and traveling the world with Kay; Italy being one of his favorite destinations. CJ's quote recalled by Clint Boughan one of CJ's closest childhood friends: "From the poor Italian kid on Green St. to traveling the world!" CJ loved his family more than anything and will be missed by all. A memorial service will be held at Santa Rosa de Lima Catholic Church, 6571 FM970, Florence, TX 76527 on 9/30/17 at 1:00 p.m. Donations may be made or sent to the church Attn: Father Larry.

It was with sad hearts that we heard about CJ's passing. We loved his happy nature, his great sense of humor, his love for his friends and all things Italian, and his bravery throughout his illness. Dave enjoyed swapping stories with CJ about the South Side of Chicago and working together in the early days of the Sun City gardens. We pray for peace and comfort for Kay and for all the family.
