Damon Baldwin Obituary

Damon S. Baldwin Dec. 2, 1971 - July 21, 2012 Damon S. Baldwin, 40, of Austin, TX passed at 10:30 a.m., July 21, 2012. Damon was passionate about his screen printing business, MOPAR, music, motorcycles, guns, his dog Pepper, and first and foremost his daughter, Josephine. Damon was born in Sarasota, FL and spent much of his early life in the Seattle area. Damon was a self made man and an incredibly motivated entrepreneur. He started Pork Chop Screen Printing in the basement of his Seattle home. His business flourished due to his impeccable attention to detail, customer service and dedication. In 2008, Damon moved to Austin and opened his second successful location of Pork Chop Screen Printing. Damon had a huge heart, loved his friends and family and his biggest love was his daughter, Josephine. Damon left this world too soon. He worked hard and played hard. He touched many lives and will be truly missed and loved by all that knew him. He is survived by his daughter, Josephine Lee Baldwin, his parents Rose and Phil, many aunts, uncles and cousins, and friends he considered family. In lieu of flowers, his family has requested that donations be made directly to his daughter, Josephine Baldwin, 8600 Brodie Lane, #217, Austin, TX 78745. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 28, 2012, at Mercury Hall, 615 Cardinal Lane, Austin, TX 78704.

I have worked with Damon for several years. I designed his web site and we had a lot of fun doing it. I was most impressed by his professionalism but he was also just such an easy guy to be around. He had a confidence and calm about him that you don't find very often. I wish I had stopped by the shop more often to say hi. My condolences go out to his family. Austin will miss Damon.

Damon was a dedicated, ambitious and a generous person. I am grateful to have known him for the past 14 years and will miss him as will all of those who knew him. It was not his time, as I feel he still had so much to accomplish, especially with raising his beautiful daughter Josephine. I am grateful for all the memories D and sincerely ache for your dear family.

I met Damon only this year when I found his GREAT silk-screen company. I enjoyed working with him on several projects and hoped that we'd have many years of doing business together. I never saw him smile or hear him laugh, but I experienced first class customer service and top quality printing. My heart aches for his co-workers, his friends and his family.

As a friend and screen printing colleague, Damon was ALWAYS available when i needed advice or a helping hand. He had such a serious demeanor that was fun for me to try to break with a joke, and when i did his laugh was bellowing, genuine and infectious. I've never seen him so happy as when he wad talking about Josephine. He was on his way to becoming one of the best screen printers in the country, the kind of prints he was doing were amazing, i was always at a loss for words when i'd see some of his latest work (6 shades of grey?). We would have been friends to the end. I'm deflated that the end had to come so soon. Love You Brother, Steve

I've known Damon since his days in Olympia, Washington when he was pal'ing around w/ Joe Hardy, we'd only see each other when paths crossed in our travels in America over the years, picking up right where we left off the last time. I watched from a distance his empire grow, his life becoming more grown up and shaped with each new venture; business, cars, motorcycles, move to Austin and most recently and importantly, his daughter Josephine. I am forever thankful to have known such a true spirit and good friend. I am especially grateful to have seen him just last month in Austin. Damn brother, damn.

damon, you are my only child and so much a part of me. every night i pray to wake up and find that this is just some horrible dream.
you were always so independent and lived life your way...and we were so proud of you. you succeeded in all your goals and dreams.
we loved how you loved your daughter and that being a dad made you so happy. we saw the loving care you gave to her. we remember how you told us that when you saw her it would sometimes bring a tear to your eye. your love for her was so deep and pure. you said she would be the only girl you would love forever...it made me laugh, because it was true. you told us that you never wanted josephine to forget that you were her dad...and i know kellie and i will make sure she will know YOU.
i miss you more than words can say and will love you for a million years...your mom, rose xoxox

Damon had me at first sight of his infectious smile and a kiss on the cheek soon after. Austin, Seattle, and every other town he kicked dirt up in will not be the same. His heart of gold will be truly missed by many. My heart goes out to baby Jo and all of his loved ones.

I only knew Damon a few years. I am so glad I got to know him, a true pleasure. Thank you for the laughs and great times.

Damon ALWAYS had a smile and a twinkle in his eye. He embraced life no doubt. What I will remember most is how excited we both were to be parents. Him with Josephine and my husband and I with our little girl. "Isn't it awesome?" he said. Yes Damon... yes it is. It feels unfair that you aren't here to experience more of it. I will very much miss seeing you and swapping parent stories.

There is no doubt you will be with Josephine always and I am sad that there are so many loved ones left behind to miss you. My deepest sympathies to your family and friends Damon. God speed brother.

Although I we only met a few years ago, and we rarely got to see each other, whenever we did it was like we had seen each other yesterday and had known each other forever. I will miss our ridiculously long life talks in the midst of loud parties and shows, the check in texts or calls just to say hi, and just knowing you were always there. Sleep well, my friend.

Damon, I am both happy and horrified that Dave and I got to share your last night on earth with you. Had I known that our goodbye would be our last I would of made that hug last a little longer. But that's the kicker, right? No one ever knows. I look at the texts and pics from that night and it makes my heart and brain stutter in disbelief. You my friend, are larger than life. Your infectious smile and full throttle energy will remain with us forever. Godspeed and give them hell where ever you may be.

I recently met Damon through a mutual friend, and in a matter of minutes he made me feel like we had known each other for years. He was warm, friendly, happy, and not afraid of showing his love.

My heart goes out to Josephine, his family, and dear friends. He will be missed greatly, but he will not be forgotten.

I have only known Damon for a couple of years, but you didn't need to know him long to understand how impressive he was. I'm the guy who serviced his screen printing equipment at Pork Chop. I work in many, many shops and I can tell you that there are not many printers who can compare to Damon. And it is with the same passion that he spoke of his life and his family and friends. It is a real honor to say that I knew him and I am so sorry and sad that he is no longer with us. My deepest condolances go to all who knew him. I hope that there is some comfort in knowing that because God knows how all of us loved him, He loves Damon likewise.
