Donna EICHENWALD Obituary

EICHENWALD, Donna Ann Young
Donna Ann Young Eichenwald, 56, of Austin passed away on January 19, 2016 in San Antonio after a lengthy illness.

Donna was born on July 11, 1959 and raised in Vailsburg, Newark, New Jersey. A 1977 graduate of Vailsburg High School, she later attended the St. Louis Conservatory of Music.

A professional double bassist and recorder soloist, Donna played with several orchestras and chamber ensembles including the New Jersey Symphony, New Jersey Pops, Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic, New Brunswick Chamber Orchestra, and Stretto Chamber Players. During the 1980s and '90s she worked extensively in cabaret rooms and Broadway/off-Broadway theaters in Manhattan, showcasing her wit and comic timing along with impeccable musicianship.

Donna also worked as a mortgage loan officer, as an advertising account executive, and as a senior marketing communications writer. She had lived in Austin since 2002. Following the birth of her twin sons, Donna was a devoted mother who was respected as a role model and inspiration by many other mothers with whom she networked.

Donna will be remembered as a brilliant individual who performed at the highest levels of numerous pursuits, including music, writing, photography, cooking, and parenting. She was a caring, insightful, and empathetic woman who gave unstintingly of herself, and will be much missed by those whose paths she crossed.

Donna is survived by her husband Wes Eichenwald, whom she married in 2003, and sons Luka and Leo; her sister Andrea Young Frary (Ron) of Rockaway, N.J.; brothers Kenneth Young Jr. (Angela) of Succasunna, N.J. and Jeffrey Young (Todd) of San Jose, Cal.; many cousins and extended family members and a great number of friends. Donna was preceded in death by her father Kenneth Young Sr. in 2004, and her mother Lorraine (Stecher) Young in 2011.

A celebration of Donna's life will be held in New Jersey at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to her young sons' later education at https://www.gofundme.com/bamvp4rp.

Donna had so many tales from her interesting life, it was always so fun to listen to her! She laughed freely and often. How much she loved those boys was always so very clear.
