Elizabeth Ann Smith Andrus Obituary
Elizabeth Ann Smith Andrus We remember that Elizabeth Ann Smith Andrus passed away to join her Heavenly Father on June 1, 2013. She passed away peacefully with her husband present and with the love of her incredible children, family, friends and acquaintances fully known to her. She fought a courageous and inspiring battle against lung cancer and won. She loved all! Elizabeth was a faithful believer and recently became a member of Austin Ridge Bible Church. Other than her family and friends, Elizabeth's passion was volunteering at Open Arms in Austin. She developed many friendships with the women there. She also had a passion for sharing Christ with children. She even continued to lead her daughter's Sunday school class at Austin Ridge over the last several months. Elizabeth was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on June 27, 1967 to Leslie and Shirley Smith. Elizabeth lived in many different countries including the Democratic Republic of the Congo, South Korea, Uruguay and Great Britain. She eventually moved back to The Lone Star State before her junior year of high school. She graduated from The Hockaday School in Dallas, Texas. She earned an undergraduate degree from Trinity University in San Antonio and a law degree from The Catholic University in Washington, D.C. Elizabeth worked as an independent defense attorney and later as an Assistant District Attorney in Travis County, Texas. As an Assistant D.A. she helped children have a voice in Child Protective Services related cases. In 2002 Elizabeth married her beloved husband David Andrus after they initially met in their church Sunday school class at Westlake Hills Presbyterian Church in Austin. Elizabeth was an avid runner with Gilbert's Gazelles running group. Elizabeth always took time to read books and she enjoyed writing. She was an AmeriCAN not an AmeriCAN'T. But most of all, Elizabeth loved Christ and loved spending time with Eva and Luke, her family and friends. Elizabeth leaves her loving husband David Andrus and her two greatest masterpieces her daughter Eva Andrus and son Luke Andrus. She also leaves Shirley Allred Smith, mother, Austin, and Leslie Smith, father (deceased), Norma Andrus, mother-in-law, Houston, brothers Mike Fudge, Dallas and Jon Fudge, Waxahachie, Keenon Fudge, Waxahachie nephew, Brandon Baker, nephew, Waxahachie, Sister-in-laws Ruthie Andrus, Plano, Lori Bishop, Bozeman, Kathleen Whetsell, Kingwood, brother-in-laws, Tom Andrus, Plano, John Bishop, Bozeman, two aunts, Frances King, Rockwall and Nina (Ira) May of Abilene, Dorothy Bailey, great aunt, Dallas, Elizabeth Bishop, niece, Dallas, Sarah Whetsell, niece, Austin, Matthew Andrus, nephew, Dallas, Michael Andrus, nephew, Waco, John Bishop, Jr., Houston and Paige Schuemack, dear family friend, Austin.
