Elora SMITH Obituary
SMITH, Elora Jane Watt Elora Jane Watt Smith, age 92, died Wednesday, November 22, 2017 in Galveston, Texas. She was born October 1, 1925 into a pioneer Austin family and spent the majority of her life residing in Austin. After a misspent youth and some character building experiences, she lived her life with a servant heart and spirit of generosity to her family, friends, church and community. For several years she taught a fourth grade class at Highland Park Elementary School. She served as presiding officer of: The Women of St. David's Episcopal Church, Chapter AZ of PEO (an educational/philanthropic organization), The Junior League of Austin and The Seton Development Board. She acquired the joy in gardening from her mother, Otis Nichols Watt, who first brought azaleas to Austin. For many years Elora continued her mother's garden which was open to the public and enjoyed by many. She is survived by her daughter Olivia Cornelison and husband, James of St. Louis, granddaughters Kimberly K. Hagara of Galveston and Anne K. Clark and her husband, James of League City, and great grandchildren Rachel Hagara, Connor Clark and Zachary Clark. She is also survived by her sister Otis Watt Benjamin of Dallas and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Graveside services will be held at Austin Memorial Park on December 9th at 2 pm.
