WATSON, Gertrude Pauline Gertrude Pauline (Smith) Watson, born in Pearsall, Frio County, Texas, November 7th, 1925, went to meet Our Lord's Great Oneness January 5th, 2019. Trudi, as she was known to her family and friends, obtained her Bachelor of Science from Howard Payne University and Master's from Montana State University. She was a Cartographic Draftsman for the Army Map Service, U.S. Corps of Engineers during World War II. Trudi then became an educator, with teaching careers in Texas and California. She and her husband, Joe Allen Watson, spent their retirement years in Austin, Texas where they continued collecting rare books and art. She loved Opera and spent a great deal of time researching family genealogy. She was a member of the Canary Island Descendants Association. She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Washington Smith and Winnie Margaret (Carson) Smith, brothers Thomas Carson Smith and Roy Benjamin Smith, and sister Margaret Ann (Smith) Neal. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. As a member of the Neptune Society, her ashes will be placed at Sand Hollow Cemetery in Frio County. A Life Celebration is pending.
