BIEHLE, Gretchen Elaine Johnson Gretchen Biehle left this world to be with her Heavenly Father on July 9, 2018 after a courageous and long fight with cancer. Gretchen was born in Scottsbluff, NE on February 28, 1943 to Ralph L. and Mildred O. Johnson of NE. She was married to Arlen L. Biehle on August 5, 1962 in Norfolk, NE. She is survived by husband, Arlen; daughter Michele Biehle Harbour Adams, and husband Gary Todd Adams of Corpus Christi, TX; grandson Logan H. Harbour of College Station, TX; son Christopher A. Biehle and wife Esperanza Villarreal Biehle of Austin, TX; and son Patrick J. Biehle and wife Shelly Friedeck Biehle, grandson Liam A. Biehle and granddaughter Avery A. Biehle of San Antonio, TX; brother Dwayne L. Johnson and wife Maria of Suffolk, VA as well as several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Gretchen's parents are deceased. Gretchen was a life-long Christian who loved the Lord and tried to live as He would have her live her life. She was an accomplished musician and vocalist. She served in musical capacities while accompanying her husband in the U.S. Air Force in various chapels to include Ramey AFB, Puerto Rico, Clark AB, Philippines and Yokota AB, Japan as well as Christian Churches at stateside assignments. Graduating from Norfolk, Senior High School, Norfolk, NE in the spring of 1961, she attended Nebraska Christian College. She earned an Associate of Arts degree from the University of Maryland. She was employed at various positions while her husband, Arlen, completed his Associates of Arts degree at Norfolk Junior College and Bachelor of Arts Degree at Wayne State College in Wayne, NE and a Master of Art in Education Degree from Inter America University of Puerto Rico. Beginning in spring of 1965, Gretchen accompanied Arlen on military assignments to James Connelly AFB, Waco, TX; Mayther AFB, Sacramento, CA; and Castle AFB, Merced, CA. The family then moved to Ramey AFB, Puerto Rico; McDill AFB, Tampa FL; Clark AB, Philippines; Eglin AFB, FL; Yokota AB, Japan; and Holloman AFB, NM. After Arlen's retirement from the Air Force, Gretchen was a supportive and helpful spouse during Arlen's second career with First Command Financial Services of Fort Worth, TX. The Biehle family then moved to Austin, TX for ultimate retirement. She was an avid reader, a lover of music, and a gardener. Traveling was one of her greatest pleasures as she traveled throughout Asia, Africa, Europe, The Carribean, Latin and North America. Her grown children were a constant pleasure to her. Logan, Liam, and Avery her grandchildren, delighted her beyond measure. Interment will be at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, TX. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be given to the or Ralph Johnson Scholarship Fund, Nebraska Christian College. Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at 4:00 pm CDT at LifeAustin Chapel, 8901 W Highway 71, Austin, TX 78735.
