Jane Johnson Obituary
JOHNSON, Jane Norma Heinz Born 12/13/1928 - Passed 10/30/2018 at the age of 89. MEMORIAL SERVICE to be held at Marshall Ford Fellowship Church, 5000 Marshall Ford Rd, Austin, TX on January 10, 2019, at 6:30PM. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall immediately after the service. All of Jane's Friends and Family are welcome to come Celebrate her life. Jane as all her friends and family referred to her was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, sister, aunt and more. She was so very special and she touched so many lives. She was a giver, caretaker, counselor, entrepreneur, mentor, philanthropist, who loved everyone, but was also a straight shooter who would speak her mind and stand up for what was right. Jane grew up in Scranton, PA. She was the fourth of seven children born to Carl and Ethel Heinz. She married and moved to Miami Florida in 1947; then in 1955 she became a proud resident of Austin, Texas. Jane began her working career in Austin at the Villa Capri Restaurant that was on IH35; then she managed the Copper Skillet Restaurant on N. Lamar. The finale of her working years was owning "Jane's Restaurant" at 3500 Guadalupe. She and her husband, Hobson Johnson worked as a team; he was a Five Star Chef; while she was the face of the restaurant. She created a "Cheers" atmosphere; where everyone (meaning Jane) knew your name and what you liked to eat. She had the most phenomenal memory and knew every customers name, their date of birth, all their family members and much more. She treated her customers like family and they loved her; as she loved them. Jane loved children and animals. She always spoiled her dogs and birds and she always had toys and goodies for children who visited her. Jane was a role model to her family and friends and she will be missed dearly. Jane is survived by her children, Linda (Jimmy) Whitaker and Deborah Clakley, as well as her grandchildren, Jennifer, Bonnie, Ashley, Christie and 14 great grandchildren. She meets her husband of 37 years, Hobson Johnson; her parents Carl & Ethel Heinz; daughters Bonnie Bachman and Cheryl Austin; and grandson, Gary Shane Clakley, in heaven. She was layed to rest in Scranton PA on 11/9/2018 in Abbington Hills Cemetery after a funeral service at Davies and Jones Funeral Home in downtown Scranton.
