WASHINGTON, Ollie H. Ollie H Washington passed away on January 3, 2019, one month before her 100th birthday on February 3, 2019. She was born in Grovetown, Georgia to Joe and Mattie Lou Hardy. Ollie was the oldest of 5 children and enjoyed spending time with her close knit family. She married Curtis Washington on June 20, 1937. They moved to Springfield, Mo where they lived for 49 years and raised two children, Myrna and Curtis Jr. She enjoyed cooking (her chicken and dumplings were a family favorite), bowling, fishing and gardening. She played an active role at Grace UMC. Ollie and Curtis moved to Austin in 2004 to live with their daughter. Ollie was a member of Bethany UMC House of Friends where she was known as "Miss Hospitality." She will be missed by all who knew her. Curtis preceded her in death on January 13, 2006. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Myrna and Frank Jacks, Sr. of Austin; son, Curtis Washington, Jr. of Springfield, Mo; seven grandchildren, Frank Jacks, Jr. of Austin, Richard and Monique Jacks of Glenview, Il, Kathy and Bill Robbins of Austin, Amy and Kevin Lines, Scott Crain, Rebecca and Jeff Hornbeck and Katlyn Washington, all of Springfield, Mo; 16 great-grandchildren, Nicki, Jacqueline, Elise, Nathan, Tyler, Haley, Jessica, Julia, Paige, Carson, Dylan, Alicia, Natilie, Finn, Jude and Jeffrey. She was preceded in death by her three brothers Oscar, Jake and Reuben and is survived by her sister Merle Childs of Barnesville, Ga. The family would like to thank all of the countless friends, family and health care professionals who have supported her during the last few years. A special thank you to her Assisted Living caretakers at Austin Wellness and Rehab formerly known as Heartland Healthcare Center. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions in Ollie's name be sent to Bethany UMC House of Friends, 10010 Anderson Mill Rd., Austin, TX 78750; or Hospice Austin, 4107 Spicewood Springs Rd. #100, Austin, TX 78759. A memorial service will be held at Bethany United Methodist Church in Austin at 10:00 am on Monday, January 14, 2019.
