Kelsey Nicole Veldman Our beloved daughter and sister Kelsey Nicole Veldman's brief time with us ended on Saturday, June 20, 2009 after a nine year battle with an eating disorder. Kelsey loved art, music, fashion, reading, her friends and family and her cat Tum Tum. Her infectious smile was angelic, and she was much loved by her family and friends. But her life was too fleeting to realize her boundless potential. Kelsey is survived by her parents, Greg and Cheryl Veldman, her devoted sister Marissa, and her grandmothers Janet S. Veldman and Ruth D. Bleiler. She is also survived by her aunts Audrey Veldman and Catherine Goyne, her uncles Stuart "Randy" Veldman, Kim Wilson and Paul Goyne, her cousins Nora and Alison Veldman-Wilson and Amy Goyne. She is a graduate of Round Rock High School. Her parents and sister would like to thank the many people over the years who helped our family as she fought her disease. Ultimately she lost the war, but not for the lack of effort by those who were on the front line with her. Funeral services will be held at Beck's Funeral Home, 15709 Ranch Road 620, Round Rock at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, June 25. We request in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Austin Foundation for Eating Disorders ("AFED") c/o K. Kaiser, Treasurer, 1708 Chicon, Austin, TX 78702-1232.

I am so sorry to hear about Kelsey passing away. I spent a lot of time with her in Reno and her spunk, giant smile, and carefree attitude were always contagious! She will be truly missed. I'm angry, frustrated, and confused that it had to come to this. May we all continue to fight this terrible disease together in her name. My condolences to her friends and family. We will miss you, friend.

I am stunned to hear about Kelsey. I was out of town the week it happened and am so sorry not to have made the services. Kelsey was warm, sweet, loving, sensitive, and caring. The world should feel such a loss of someone like her. I only hope that her life will help others with theirs. I will miss her.

That laugh will be missed.

My fondness memory is taking Amy and Kelsey at age 5 and 3 twenty years ago to Seaworld. That excitement to go she had and then being so worn out she fell asleep on my shoulder as we watched Shamu.

Dear Greg and Cheryl,
Our hearts are breaking to hear that Kelsey's long struggle has ended. There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are messengers of overwhelming grief...and unspeakable love.
Your little girl is not gone -- only out of sight. She will always be there in our hearts, and she will be waiting for us in heaven, which is not really so far away. And now, where there was this great struggle and brokenness, she has been made whole, both in body and spirit. What she was to be, has now been attained, in heaven, and in the Lord.
And now, more than ever, she may fully appreciate the battles you have fought on her behalf. It was a fight well worth the effort, and she's been ennobled by your sacrifices, by your suffering along with her. You may be sure that the Lord has taken close note of the suffering you have shared together.
But when the tears begin to dry, be sure that it has been a good life in so many ways, and that your time together was truly precious in the sight of God. As she's been welcomed to her ultimate home, there is rejoicing now there as well. Her best has just begun.
God bless you all. We are with you in heart and spirit, and we'll continue to pray for you all in the months ahead. We love you all.
