Martin DeSTEFANO Obituary
DeSTEFANO, Martin Joseph Martin Joseph DeStefano was born in Robertson County, Texas to Frank and Bessie DeStefano on March 14, 1933 and passed away on April 6, 2018. Martin graduated from Hearne High School in 1950. While at Hearn High School, he received four letters in tennis, four letters in baseball, two letters in basketball and three letters in football-where he served as captain his senior year. His proudest achievement came at the University of Texas when he received a freshman letter as a 145-pound walk-on. Martin attended the University of Texas from 1950 to 1954 where he received a BBA in accounting and later became a CPA. From 1955 to 1958, he attended the University of Texas law school where he received an LLB in Jurisprudence in 1958. From 1958 to 1962, he served as an Assistant Attorney General under Will Wilson. From 1962 to 1978, he was in private practice in Austin, Texas. In 1978, Martin became president and CEO of Ace Drug Marts, Inc. He served in this capacity until the company was sold in 1985. He was active in the Austin Jaycees and in coaching little league baseball and football. He became loved and known to the boys as "Coach D." He was also known and loved by the neighborhood kids as "Daddy D." His favorite hobbies included fishing, golf, and traveling with the Austin Ski Club. He also enjoyed partaking in after golf game chats at the Austin Country Club with his golfing buddies. He often met for meetings of the "Hulley Gully Coffee Group" in downtown Austin where he was known as "Godfather." His wife, Sandra Barton DeStefano and his son, Steven Dale DeStefano, preceded Martin in death. He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Dawn DeStefano, four grandchildren: Christine Marie Migliore, Jessica Michelle DeStefano, Laura Danielle DeStefano, Katherine Dale DeStefano, and two great-grandchildren: Brylie Raine Kalk and Elizabeth Dale Migliore. Honorary pallbearers are: Moton Crockett, Dan Wheelus, Ron Chandler and Ron Cartlidge. Pallbearers are: David DeStefano, Daniel DeStefano, Frank DeStefano, Patrick DeStefano, Sam Altimore, Chris Carpenter, Brig Cole, and Charles Shierlow. The family will welcome friends for visitation from 5-8 PM on Friday, April 13 at Beck Funeral Home located at 4765 Preim Lane in Pflugerville, Texas. Services will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, April 14 at Beck Funeral Home followed by internment at Capital Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to .
