Nancy M. Long Obituary
LONG, Nancy McDonnell Nancy McDonnell Long passed away on July 3rd after a brief illness at the age of 88. She was born on September 21, 1929 to hard working Irish parents, Frank & Mabel McDonnell, in Great Falls, Montana. She was the youngest of eight children. Mom's pride and joy were her 59 years of marriage to Dad, her nine children, and her Catholic faith. Mom's quest for adventure and fun knew no bounds and with nine children to share it with there was never a dull moment. Raising nine children is difficult but raising nine difficult children is not for the faint of heart. Mom had a resilient, can do attitude. She believed in us, prayed for us, and with her Montana tough spirit willed us to be responsible and generous people. Mom was preceded in death by her husband James L. Long, Jr. and son, Matthew J. Long. She is survived by her eight children, Karen Kuehl/Steve, James Long III/Kathie, Michael Long, Gina Richardson/Marty, Nancy Hughes/Bill, John Long, Chris Long/David Smith, and Paul Long, 15 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Jane Craig of Novato, CA. A Memorial Mass celebrating this extraordinary woman will be held at St. Austin's Catholic Church on July 14th at 10:00 am. Visitation will be Friday, July 13th at Nancy & Bill Hughes, 3413 Mount Barker Drive, Austin, TX 78731 at 6:00 p.m.
