Ollie Lu Jensen Obituary
JENSEN, Ollie Lu Ollie Lu (Louise) Jensen of Austin, Texas passed away peacefully on June 8th at the age of 90 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Shawnee OK on October 8 1927 to Ollie Adele and Luther Thomas Prothro. Louise lived her early years in Holdenville Oklahoma and Mercedes Texas. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1949 with a Bachelors degree in Journalism. She met her husband Captain Walter Jensen at a USO dance at the Harlingen Air Force Base. They married in 1953. As an Air Force wife, she lived in Montana, England, Alabama and Kansas. While raising her family she managed to also have a career as a journalist, writing for the Mercedes Enterprise, the Holdenville Daily News, and Austin American Statesman. Later in her life, she wrote and published a book of poems "A Little Book of Sparkling Rhymes". Her favorite activities including embroidery, reading, and spending time at Padre Island. Her unique sense of humor and wit entertained and inspired many. She will be dearly missed by her friends and family. Louise is survived by daughters Lisa and husband Keith Stone of Austin, Kathleen and Tim Harlow of Liberty Hill, and Sandra and David Ridings of Round Rock. She is also survived by grandchildren Matthew, Timothy, Russell, Mark, Kristina, Samantha, Valerie and Stephanie, and great grandchildren Dylan, Ryhan, Arya and Dixon. She was preceded in death by sons Randy and David and her husband Walter Jensen. The family would like to thank the staff at Parson's House for their wonderful care. Services will be held at the Presbyterian Church in Mercedes Tx at 11AM Saturday June 16th. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Mercedes.
