Robert E. Wilson Obituary
WILSON, Robert E. Robert Earl Wilson, beloved husband and devoted father, went gently with his God on January 6, 2019 in Austin at the age of 83. Known to most as "Bob," and to the old guard as "Bobby Earl," he will be remembered by all as a man of genuine kindheartedness, by which all others should be measured. He was born September 19, 1935 in Perryton, Texas, the son of Bill and Lora Wilson. He graduated from Perryton High School and Texas Tech University, with a business degree in accounting. Bob became employed in Austin by the State of Texas in 1972, an accounting career that began with the department of Housing and Community Affairs and ended in grateful retirement in 1997 from the department on Aging, now part of Texas Health and Human Services. Retirement didn't slow Bob down, as he continued to contract with various organizations, including his extended service with the state Volunteer Firefighters Association. Always willing to give freely of his time, Bob served on the board of Roy Lozano's Ballet Folklorico de Texas for much of the 1990s. Bob was a doting husband and involved father and, later, an even more doting and more involved grandfather. Bob and Evelyn's inspirational life together spanned decades and their home was often the meeting place for family gatherings, bridge nights and countless other social events, where Bob was always happiest surrounded by all his favorite people. When he was not volunteering with church commitments or crunching numbers for someone or something, Bob could usually be found tending to his yard. The attention he gave to his landscaping was matched and surpassed by the loving care he showered on those inside and all who ever visited. Bob had the kindest heart and the most loving soul. In return Bob was loved by so many and admired by all. Bob is preceded in death by his parents Bill and Lora Wilson, of Perryton, TX; and two sisters, O'neal Philley of Big Spring, TX; and Lynn Ewing of Perryton, TX. He is survived by Evelyn, his devoted wife of 54 years. He also leaves behind two daughters, Elizabeth Allen of Georgetown, TX; and Robyn Vose, and husband, William, of Omaha, NE. He leaves fond memories with his six grandchildren, Bailey Farris Williams, and her husband, Taylor, of Austin, TX; Morgan Farris, of Chapel Hill, NC; Madison Farris, of Georgetown, TX; Andrew Vose and wife, Stephanie, of Washington, D.C.; Ethan Vose and Paige Vose, of Omaha, NE. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019, 2 p.m., at Westlake United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Roy Lozano Ballet Folklorico de Texas, Keep Austin Beautiful, or an organization of your choice.
