Victor SERRANO-GONZALEZ Obituary
SERRANO-GONZALEZ, Victor Antonio Our beloved husband and father, Victor Antonio Serrano-Gonzalez, age 80, resident of Austin, was suddenly called to our Heavenly Father on Sunday, November 26, 2017. Victor was born June 16, 1937, in Moca, Puerto Rico. He is preceded in death by his parents, Andres and Telesfora (Gonzalez) Serrano. He has been faithfully and lovingly married to his childhood sweetheart, Deixter, for over 60 wonderful years. Victor honorably and proudly served in the United States Army and United States Air Force for 27 years. When he retired, he had attained the rank of Master Sergeant. Among the honors he received while serving were 3 Air Force Commendation Medals and the Meritorious Service Medal. Soon after retirement, he attended St. Edwards University. He graduated Magna Cum Laude, with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. We will miss his ability and creativity to fix anything, his precise nature, down to the way he signed his name, and the whistle that told you he was there or it was time to come in. Papi, you honored your family, you honored your friends, and you honored your country. We will now honor your wishes to take care of Mommy and each other. May you rest in peace. He is survived by: his wife, Deixter; his children (and their spouses), Glenys, Ydsia Slagle (Bill), Victor (Nirna), Larry (Robin), Kenneth (Leni), Ronald (Lisa), Jeffrey (Renee), and Melissa Hernandez (Mark); as well as twenty-two grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren; his brothers and sisters, Andres Jr., Ana Quintana, Julio, and Elsia Melendez. Viewing of the body will be Saturday, Dec. 2nd, at 10:00 a.m. followed by a recitation of the Rosary and a brief service starting at 11:00 a.m. at Harrell Funeral Home, 4435 Frontier Trail, Austin, TX 78745. We will always carry your memory in our hearts. Condolences may be sent to: www.harrellfuneralhomes.com.
