John Derral Mulholland Sept. 28, 1934 - Nov. 11, 2008 J. Derral Mulholland was born in Muncie, Indiana to John A. and Alma Mulholland. Derral earned a bachelor's degree in aeronautical engineering at Purdue University and graduate degrees at Yale and University of Cincinnati, Derral came to the astronomy department at the University of Texas at Austin in 1971 as a research scientist and senior lecturer. After leaving the University of Texas at Austin in 1986, Derral taught at the Space Astronomy Laboratory at the University of Florida then served as a visiting professor in astrophysics at Université de Nice and at the Observatoire du CERGA prior to his retirement. J. Derral Mulholland passed away in his home, St-Vallier de Thiey, France. He leaves behind a loving wife, Sheila, two children, Karen and Karl, five sisters, and four granddaughters.
