Loma (Hess) FLOYD Obituary
FLOYD, Loma (Hess)

Loma (Hess) Floyd, 89, of Buchanan Dam, Texas, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2014, in Pflugerville, Texas. She was born on October 11, 1924, in Gonzales, Texas, to Antone and Grace (Campion) Hess.

Self-sufficiency was a key trait in Loma's life. Her mother passed away when she was just a girl, leaving Loma to take care of herself from a young age. In 1942, she married Ray Floyd, and throughout more than 70 years of marriage, Loma worked to keep their household supplied and to turn home-grown vegetables into meals for her family.

Outside of her household obligations, Loma worked as a secretary for various businesses in Gonzales, Texas, and Fort Stockton, Texas. She retired in 1979 from McCallum High School in Austin, Texas, after working for more than 30 years as part of the office staff.

Loma was proceeded in death by her husband and parents as well as her brother, Hughie Hess

Loma is survived by her daughter, Janet (Floyd) Huggins; her grandchildren, Chris Huggins and Gracie (Huggins) Stobaugh; her great-grandchildren, Chelsea Huggins, Devyn Stobaugh, and Cade Stobaugh; along with 2 nieces and 4 nephews.

At Loma's request, no service will be held. Instead, close family and friends will have a private celebration of life in her honor.
