Alice Richards Pryor Obituary
PRYOR, Alice Richards Alice Richards Pryor, came into this world searching and questioning on August 25, 1929 and has now gone on to her next adventure. She left this life on April 13, 2018. Alice was born in St. Paul, Minnesota and spent her youth in Forest Lake, Minnesota. She loved the three connecting lakes where she spent much of her youth swimming, canoeing and sailing from one lake to another. She attended Forest Lake schools, St. Catherine College and the University of Minnesota. She had her first teaching job in art and physical education in Cadott, Wisconsin. Later she held art teaching positions in Robbinsdale, MN; Guadalajara, Mexico; Hamilton, Ontario and UT, Austin, Texas. Sensitivity to art chemicals forced her to leave the world of art so she trained to be an Alexander Technique teacher. She had a successful private practice for 30 years conducting Alexander Technique workshops and classes in many states and foreign countries. She met her husband George in 1967 in Austin and they married in 1971 in Hamilton, Ontario where he was attending graduate school. After a year of marriage in Hamilton they returned to Austin where she resumed her teaching career at UT. Her parents and brother have preceded her in death. Beloved living relatives and friends include her spouse George, Sam and Jeanine Ross, Julie Chase, Corbin Richards, Lois Ross, Karen Millican, Kathleen Juhl, Jane Bick, Donna Volmer, and the large Grefsheim family. Her ashes will be interred in the Columbarium at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Austin, TX. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 18th at 3:00 PM at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 3208 Exposition Blvd., Austin TX.
