Stuart M. DeLuca Stuart M. DeLuca died Jan. 5 at his home in Austin. He was interred in La Grange, Tex., at the La Grange City Cemetery on Jan 10. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, January 22, at 2:00 p.m., at Hyde Park Christian Church, 610 E. 45th Street. DeLuca was born Oct. 25, 1942, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Fredric E. DeLuca and Vera June (Reynolds) DeLuca. He married Joan Delores Baker on Sept. 1, 1962, in Tinley Park, Ill. He moved to Austin in 1964, and completed graduate school at the University of Texas. He worked for several years for the Texas Department of Health. He was an independent writer, writing law enforcement textbooks as well as several plays and other works. He co-founded and was a board member of the Texas Inmate Families Association (TIFA). He was chairman of Another Way Texas Shares and was Team President of Travis County REACT and editor of REACT International s bi-monthly magazine, The REACTer. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Joan DeLuca, of Austin; mother, June DeLuca, of San Bernardino, Calif.; son, David DeLuca and wife Kim, of La Grange; daughter Patty Byars and husband Larry, of Pflugerville; four grandchildren, Millicent DeLuca, Trevor Byars, Christopher DeLuca, Cassidy Byars; four brothers, Sheldon of Teague, Paul of Bedford, Brian and wife Priscilla of Cary, N.C., Christopher and wife Sandra of San Bernardino, Calif.; mother-in-law, Bertha Baker of Austin; and brother-in-law, Richard Baker and wife Pat, of Katy. He was preceded in death by his father, Frederic DeLuca; father- in-law, John L. Baker, and his grandson, Hayden DeLuca. Memorials are suggested to TIFA (www.tifa.org), P.O.
