Florice Maddox Obituary

Florice F. Maddox It's All About Him He First Loved Me Sept. 5, 1920 - Oct. 4, 2008 As evangelist D.L. Moody once said: "You are reading in the newspaper that I am dead. Do not believe a word of it, for I am more alive than ever before". I was taught about Heaven, as a child; as I grew older, I wanted to learn what Jesus taught about the glorious place God has prepared for me and all who will trust Him: Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it was not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there you may be also." John 14;1-3 I am with my Savior and I wish I could tell you about my beautiful mansion. Oh! My loved ones and friends, how about you? "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him" I Corinthians 2:9 I am now in my real home. The body I have no more use for is dead, and will be put in the ground. But I can assure you that I am not there. If you want to shed tears, make them tears of joy that I have been released from all my pain and I am rejoicing in Heaven. Remember that I am with my Lord and have joined all that have gone on before me. God blessed me with an outstanding husband, Hess Maddox. We married September 30, 1938. We were not Christians; by God's mercy and grace, we professed faith in Jesus Christ on July 13, 1947. Hess went to be with his Lord in September 2001.We are survived by our son Robert and his wife Sandy. My sisters and brothers blessed me with precious nieces and nephews. There were also many aunts, uncles, and cousins that were a part of my growing up years. Today I am still blessed with a wonderful extended family, although there are fewer of us on earth as the Lord takes us home. I have been blessed by my wonderful church family at Hyde Park Baptist Church. The body of believers in this church has ministered to me in countless ways through the years. Not by being just good friends, but by lifting me up in prayer through many illnesses and giving countless offers of help in any way. The church body behaves like a body in Christ is supposed to behave. These friends are special, caring people who know the loving art of bringing joy to others by sharing from the heart. I thank God that His plan included our blood family, then the church family. When you read this, I have taken my last breath here, and the next in Heaven. Many of you I will see again. Some I won't and that is the saddest thing in the world to me. God has made provision that "none should perish". That provision was the sacrifice of his son. You are all too valuable and cost Him dearly not to receive that gift. And it is a gift. There is no way we can earn our way into Heaven, or buy our way, or work our way. The only way is to accept Jesus Christ into your heart. The most quoted verse in the Bible is John 3:16. Most of us learned it when we were children in Vacation Bible School. "For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Please let that verse speak to your heart and receive that gift of salvation so we will meet again. The family would like to thank the staff of Westminister Health Care enter, Hospice Austin, Dr. Michael Pelligrini and his staff, and Hill Country Care Providers. Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Austin-Peel and Son Funeral Home, 607 East Anderson Lane. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the Hyde Park Baptist Church, 3901 Speedway. Dr. Kie Bowman will officiate and burial will follow at the Capital Parks Cemetery Memorial contributions may be made to the Hyde Park Baptist Church. JESUS COME QUICKLY; COME LORD JESUS

Dear Robert, Sandy and family,
How we enjoyed visiting with your Mom at Hyde Park on Wednesday nights. Her beautiful smile and Christ-like countenance will be missed. She always gave God the glory for any praise she might receive. Even her death notice praises our Savior. Although we are sad for her family, we rejoice in her home-going.

Dear Robert Don and family,

Your mother was a very gracious lady and I always looked forward to seeing her at the Wolf reunions. She was missed this past August but she will be forever in our hearts and remembered by all the Kaduras.

Robert, Sandy and all of the family,

I am saddened to learn of Florice's passing. I am so proud to have been associated with Hess, Florice, Robert and Sandy for so many years at HPBC; and with Robert at TPWD. My thoughts and prayers go out to you all.

Dear Robert & Sandy--
You do not know me, but I heard much about you during the years I taught Sunday School with Florice. As a young mother, she & Hess "ministered" to me each Sunday when we came to work together at HPBC. They were both such encouragers. We moved to Houston in 1990 and stayed in touch for several years after that--- I guess until Hess became ill--and I lost touch with Florice-- much to my regret. I just wanted to write and say how special Florice & Hess were to me-- I still remember them most dearly-- even though it has been 18 years since we lived in Austin. I know you miss your parents, but, oh, what a blessing you had with them during their time here on earth!
