Frank stayed with Sheila and I at different times following the tragic passing of his last surviving parent(mom)at a tender age.Frank was like a son/brother to us at that time-a son any parents would proud of.I am sure his own Dad was looking down from Heaven with pleasure at his son.Always affable, generous and loving, without fail. I also had the fortunate cicumstance of having Frank work along with me at the City of Austin for a number of years.A non-complaining hard-worker that made the time go by much faster with his quick wit and easy humor. One of the shining Lights of this world flickered and fickered and finally went out.You can't replace those like Frank. We looking forward to seeing him once again.

Even now, months down the road, Frank is still missed. My heart continues to go out to Thea, and Beth. I love you both so much. Your courage and strength through it all is to be admired and respected.
Frank, I miss you just as everyone else that ever had the pleasure of your company. And I don't need to tell you how much Portia and my mom miss you too. But we all are trying to see the good all around us, even if we have to squint. Much love Uncle Frank. ~LA

Richard De La Vega

Hello Beth, My name is Richard De La Vega, I don't know if you remember me, my sister Leti did a gig on Congress Ave. one time and you had come with Frank to the gig. I met Frank about 1974-75 at this place called the Flapjack Canyon on W. Mary and S. Lamar. A friend of mine Billy Parker had come from Lexington, Ky. We were drinking coffee and were discussing finding a drummer for the band we were forming, and this guy taps me on my shoulder, and asked if we needed a drummer. It was Frank, and two other drummers in the next booth. So the following years were about four different bands with Frank, one with Tim Boatwright, The De La Vega Band, and the Blue Angels.
I am so sorry about Frank, You have my deepest, and sincere sympathy. I got to know Nancy and Portia a little during my association with Frank as well, please give them my sympathies and regards.. God Bless and all my love, Richard D.

Dear Beth,
I send my love and sincere condolences to you at this difficult time. Frank was so proud of you and your home; the dogs and of course the music. I know you will miss him every day.
You are in my prayers.
Love,

I think that I must have lost out on not knowing Frank better. Thea, I grew up with you and know that you are a beautiful, sweet, kind girl and that alot of that came from your Papa. Frank, no matter what, you will be missed by those that knew you best. My heart goes out to each of you for your loss.

Frank treated my Sloane like his own. He was a great friend to Dave and provided me with comfort when Dave died. He was a man of great honor and integrity and a wicked sense of humor. I've been blessed to know Thea. What an awesome young lady.

Leti and the De La Vega family remembers Frank as a wonderful friend and drummer. He was the first to play with her siblings 30 plus years ago, after the tragic loss of their younger drummer brother Sammy in 1976, and brought a great wave of love and healing back to their family music, probably without even realizing the importance of his presence and inspiration. I, John, husband of Leti, got to play with him several times, both live and in the studio, since 2006, and will cherish every memory. We love you Frank, and we'll see you at that great big jam in the sky!

I had the honor and privilage of playing music with Frank in several groups. He was always enthusiastic and upbeat about music and life. He was an excellent drummer. He was a great person. We used to sit on his porch and toss the bowling ball ( yes i said BOWLING BALL) to his dog to fetch. If I remember correctly, it was a german sheperd ,who would somehow wedge his teeth into the holes of the ball and carry/drag it back to us so we could throw it again. During the years we worked together he was as good a friend to me as you could ask of anybody. I had not seen Frank for the last 10 years, but have good memories of him, as a person and a musician. He was a better man than most.
