Jefferson Waller Obituary

Jefferson Clifton Waller On Saturday, July 31, 2010, Jefferson Clifton Waller, age 51, passed on to "Nevermore." Jefferson was born on February 26, 1959 in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He traveled across the United States as a free lance artist and drew his life as he went along the way. He settled in Texas more than in any other state and is where he ended his journey on this earth. He made and kept many friends throughout his life who will miss his kind, gentle soul. He was preceded in death by his father, Jefferson Burton Waller; his brother Michael Waller; his grandmother, Elva Folk; and his son, Bruce Ray Waller who he loved dearly and was the subject of most of his art. He is survived by his grandfather Pressley Folk; his mother, Rose Waller; his brothers, Joseph Paul Waller and Christopher Allen Waller; his sister Joanie Smithman; and his grandson, Preston Bailey Waller. A memorial service is planned for Jefferson at Poodie's Hilltop Bar and Grill on Highway 71 West in Spicewood, Texas on August 7th from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Jefferson would have still been my very good friend, even if he wasn't one of the best artists I have ever known. I enjoyed our road trips, such as to Luckenbach and the Saxon Pub and will miss having him over for dinner and hanging out with him at the Hilltop. I hope he truly knew how much his friendship meant to all of us.

It was my pleasure to know Jefferson, to see his art and even be a part of it occasionally. He was a gentle soul and a true artist, consumed by and dedicated to his work.

Jefferson made a profound impact on me as an artist and film maker. Poodie Locke introduced us although he passed before we began our collaboration. The last time I saw Poodie he left me with one sentence " Andy, Jefferson needs you to tell his story" the irony of that was I needed Jefferson.

Jefferson was a very special man. I was blessed to be his friend. He will be remembered, not only for his art, but also for his ability to communicate clearly. Jefferson, rest in peace.
