Hi Robert, I sent you a letter to see if you wanted to talk many weeks ago, but it was returned because I didn't put the apartment number on it. It sits eerily on my desk. I wrote about you in it in a short section anonymously as Sgt. Carter in the book Are There Christian Cops in Austin Texas'. May you always be in a better place. Thanks for what you did for Austin Texas. Michael Brooks

I sat here contemplating what to discuss. After all; how does one commemorate such an upstanding man as Craig? How do you identify what to write about, when the friend you’re describing has so many positive characteristics? Then it struck me! All anyone would really need to do is remind everyone to read on…and absorb the words written in every tribute in this book; as each post is a monument marking the respect and love for Craig, which is shared by so many individuals and families!

In my experience I believe it is very uncommon for one man to have such a profound effect on the hearts and souls of so many people…but it came easy for Craig, all he had to do was be himself: his honesty, sincerity, compassion for others and sense of humor gave rise to the phrase ‘one in a million!!’

Every time Craig and I would get to visit, our topic of conversation would always turn to our kids…and EVERY time Craig talked about the little ones, there was no mistaking the pride, love and devotion that Craig felt for his children…the kind of pride, love and devotion that is unceasing.

2nd Timothy 4
...I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.

Love Mom

March 5, 2011

My beautiful son..... I just want to tell you one more time how much I love you and what a great son you have always been. Some say that you were a mama's boy, and I have to say that I love that! We had such a special relationship, and could talk about anything. I have tried to call you at 9:30 the past few mornings as I did every day, and my heart breaks when you're not there. But I know that you would not want your Mom to suffer, so I am trying very hard to be strong for you. I may not be doing a very good job right now, but with God's help, your beautiful children, your sweet wife, and my wonderful husband, daughter, and family, I will try to find peace. Cameron and Madison will always be a special part of my life. Cam is my little Craig (he looks just like you) and Madison will now be my "sweetness". Rest in peace, my precious son.

Sandy,...My heart is so heavy having read the obituary of your son. He was a handsome young man and by all accounts, a remarkable person. I can't even begin to imagine the pain you feel as a mother, but I pray that God will wrap you in his loving arms and help you past the pain if that is at all possible. God Bless you and your family through this heartache. My prayers will remain with you.

Craig, you were such an inspiration to me all these years. I watched you handle your business on calls, so relaxed, but yet always ready to step it up if needed. You had an amazing way of calming people. I'll miss those late night 25's in Charlie and Edward we had, waiting for our shift to come to an end. Those were some great talks. I will miss teasing you about your "distinguished" look. RIP my brother in blue.

For once, I'm at a loss for words. The last time I actually caught a fish was when we left Stephen at the house, and went to Gilchrist at 5AM to catch flounder. We were so bad at fishing that we just cut the line and dropped the fish into the cooler...then tied up another hook and bait.

So many good times, Craig. You were a good friend, my man, there's no doubt about that. I'll still text you when the Astros make a dumb trade, and I can't wait to see you again. We're all better off, having known you. I miss you, bro.

I'm having a difficult time believing Craig is gone. Wow, he was such a strong, loving, friendly, humble person. I am so blessed to have known him. He was a huge part of my life. He was so funny, and I'll always remember his cocky walk. We always used to laugh and tease him back in high school. He knew he was the man! I will miss him terribly.

The Acevedo's will surely miss that magnetic personality of yours. I have so many great memories that come to mind--your love of all things sports, my phone ringing after a golf game so you could rub your win in Jay's face, our New York trip, the soft spot in your heart for Kenney Chesney, and the genius that is your rendition of "The Fireman". I am proud to have known you and will cherish those memories each time I think of you. Love you.
