John Castro Rangel, Sr. On Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 6:02 a.m. John Castro Rangel, Sr. age 68, loving father to nine children, twenty-three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild peacefully passed from this life into our Lord's presence at home with family by his side. John was born to Lina and Jesus H. Rangel on April 21, 1943 in Austin, Texas. He was the youngest of five children: Manuel Rangel (deceased), Jesus Rangel (deceased), Elisa Mungia, Augustina Aleman. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers. He is survived by his family, Isaura Longoria, mother of his children, John Rangel Jr. and wife Veronica, Philip Rangel and wife Rita, Edward Rangel and wife Zoila, Virginia Longoria and Pedro Delgado, Diana Lopez and husband Mike, Rosanne, Angelina, Clarissa, Veronica; 21 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. John was a retired truck driver of 40 years. He acquired his CDL after begining to work for Sherman Hibbs trucking company in Austin in 1970. He drove under the radio handle "Red Wagon." In 2010, he retired from A-1 Freeman North American. In recent years, on Sunday mornings, John spent time worshiping his Heavenly Father as he had given his life back to Christ. His recent commitment to our Lord Jesus Christ contributed to his final days of happiness. Weeks before his death, there were several occasions when he was able to spend time with all of his children and grandchildren, including a Father's Day celebration just twelves day prior to passing. On that day he was a proud grandpa and dad! Honoring him as pallbearers will be his grandsons: Matthew Lopez, Antonio Rangel, Dorian McCradic Needler, John Rangel III, Sheldon Foreman, Javier Rangel. Honorary pallbearers: Samuel Needler, Andrew Tavares, Benjamin Gonzales, Pedro Delgado Jr., Joshua Rangel, Sebastian Rangel The family will receive friends 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, July 4, 2011, at Angel Funeral Home, 1600 S. First St., Austin, TX. Rosary will be recited from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at Angel Funeral Home. Mass will be at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Assumption Cemetery
