W. Tim Bartlett Jr. Obituary
W. Tim Bartlett, Jr. 1951 - 2013 Tim Bartlett, 61, of Austin passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 2, 2013. He was born on October 10, 1951 to Willard and Ruth Bartlett. A graduate of The University of Texas at Arlington, Tim helped open the first Houston's Restaurant in Nashville, Tennessee. He had a deep passion for the restaurant business and he had a life long career with Houston's Restaurant. In 1990 he and his family moved to Austin where he operated the Houston's Restaurant on Anderson Lane. In 2010 he purchased the local Houston's and the name changed to Bartlett's Restaurant. Tim loved what he did and he was great at it! If someone had a dessert with whipped cream and the cream was not whipped "just right" he sent it back to be redone. He loved his employees, his many loyal clientele with whom he sat and drank espresso or "china mist" tea and talked politics, the economy, sports, and west Texas or whatever the other person needed to talk about. He was always ready to listen and "counsel" his employees if they needed him. Tim changed many young lives; he was truly a symbol of unconditional love. He always gave back--supporting The Center for Child Protection and local politics for many years. Tim is survived by his sons, Jay Bartlett and Chase Bartlett, and Resa Bartlett, mother of his sons. He is also survived by his close cousin, Jet Bartlett and wife Cherry of Austin, Texas. A celebration of Tim's life will be held from 1 - 5 pm on Sunday, February 10, at Bartlett's Restaurant. He will be dearly missed by his family and all his friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Center for Child Protection or Ronald McDonald House.
