DURR, Phoebe Glendene

Phoebe Glendene Durr, age 83, resident of Georgetown, Texas passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 in Round Rock, Texas.

A time of visitation and reception will be held from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Ramsey Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Ramsey Funeral Home, immediately following the visitation. Dr. David Griffin will be officiating. Burial will be held privately.

Glendene was born on April 16, 1931 in Georgetown, Texas to her wonderful, loving parents, O.C. and Maggie Lou Kalmbach. She thoroughly enjoyed growing up in Central Texas and was proud to call Georgetown home. On June 9, 1951 Glendene married James William "Bill" Durr in Austin, Texas. Bill and Glendene were married for 62 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She focused her energy and efforts to raising her loving children and providing her family with a comforting home. Glendene volunteered for over 27 years at St. David's Hospital in Austin. During that time, she sewed heart pillows for the heart patients. She was a magnificent seamstress. Cindy and Gail, her daughters, can still remember their matching outfits. Glendene was a great cook, always providing home cooked meals. She was a member of First Baptist Church Georgetown. While living in Austin and attending Hyde Park Baptist Church, she taught Sunday School and served on the Baptism Committee. She supported St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, the Children's Home in Round Rock and The Caring Place. Glendene had many friends.

Glendene was preceded in death by her parents, O.C. and Maggie Lou Kalmbach; sister, Erlene Hill; brother, Don Kalmbach; and granddaughter, Leslie Anne Wheelus.

To cherish her memory, Glendene leaves behind her husband, J.W. "Bill" Durr of Georgetown, Texas; daughter, Gail Wheelus of Cedar Park, Texas; daughter, Cindy Garner and husband Lester Jr. of Austin, Texas; granddaughter, Shelley Marie of Austin, Texas; grandsons: Bradley Wheelus of Cedar Park, Texas, David Balch, Jr. of Austin, Texas and Michael Durr and wife Trish of Hutto, Texas; great granddaughters: Kayla Durr, Phoebe Durr, Cristin Winbourne all of Hutto, Texas and Alex Winbourne of Round Rock , Texas; her loving sister, Paula Whitt; as well as her sister-in-law, Barbara Pitman of Shreveport, Louisiana.

Honored to serve as pallbearers include: Michael Durr, Lester Garner Jr., Bradley Wheelus, David Balch Jr., Mike Simpson and David Simpson.
