EDELMAN, Ronald Douglas

"Ronald Douglas Edelman, known to friends and family as "Ronny," passed away on the morning of June 1, 2014 at the age of 61. Ronny was born to Sarah Jones Bentley Edelman and John Harry Edelman on January 14, 1953 at the US Naval hospital in San Diego, California. His family was originally from Centerville, Alabama and he currently has family in Atlanta, Georgia and Cleveland, Ohio.

Ronny is survived by his wife of 10 years, Carye, his son Tanner Edelman and his "future daughter-in-law," Katy Bolton, two step-daughters Annalisa and Elena Abete, Annalisa's fiance, Michael O'Neal, his first wife and business partner, Cherrie Droutz, his cat Little Bit, his two dogs, Cali and Annie, his nephews, Patrick, and nieces Alicia, Kristin, along with aunts, uncles, cousins, and many, many friends across the United States.

Ronny was preceded in death by his mother, Sarah Edelman, his father, John Edelman, his sister, Denise Finn, and his half-brother, Carey J. Hobson.

Ronny was the President and co-owner of Capital Music Center in Austin where he helped build a music education program that has been recognized nationally. Currently there are over 400 students a week that come to Capital Music Center to learn to play piano and drums.

Ronny"s memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. at the University United Methodist Church, located at 2409 Guadalupe, Austin, TX 78705. Free parking is available in the Platinum Parking Lot at 25th and Guadalupe and in the parking garage at San Antonio and 25th Street.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Ron Edelman Music Scholarship fund to support students at the University of Texas Music Department studying group piano. Donations can be made to University United Methodist Church and directed to the scholarship fund. "
