Robert Hodges Obituary

Robert Brent Hodges
Austin - Robert Brent Hodges of Austin, Texas, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2021 after a short illness. Born in Houston, TX to Forest and Peggy Hodges, Brent spent his childhood years playing baseball, fishing and loving life. He attended Robert E. Lee High School in Houston where he excelled in baseball, graduated and continued his education at the University of Arkansas.
Brent met Laura, the love of his life and wife of 27 years in junior high. They were married on Lake Travis in Austin, Texas. They lived, raised their family and built lifelong friendships in the Cuernavaca neighborhood. Brent was involved in all aspects of his daughters' lives including coaching soccer, taking them hunting, and spending time on Lake Austin. It was in this home that Brent crafted a backyard oasis, a place to gather with the people he cherished most, his family.
Brent was a devoted husband, father and friend. Anyone who spent 5 minutes with him quickly knew he had a big heart, was full of love and his hugs were everlasting. He was the "Life-Of- The-Party", his smile infectious, and his laugh contagious. Brent's friendship was unconditional, he was the one to call if you were in need. He was cherished by so many and his world was centered around his wife Laura, his four daughters Taylor, Haley, Madison, and Emma and his son Dillon.
Brent was an avid hunter, fisherman, baseball player, fitness enthusiast, builder, and "fixer" of all things. He celebrated his 25-year Anniversary at Southern Glaziers Wine & Spirits this past January.
Brent is preceded in death by his mother and father Forest & Peggy Hodges. He is survived by his devoted, loving and caring wife Laura, his daughters, Taylor (son-in-law, John), Haley (son
-in-law David), Madison, Emma and his son Dillon. Brent is also survived by his sister Hayley Killam, his Aunt Bonnie Hood & Uncle Red Hood, his mother-in-law Peggy Carman and countless friends.
A Celebration of Brent's Life will be held at a future date.

I’m so sorry for this tremendous loss. I never had the pleasure of meeting Brent but being one of his sisters close friends for the past 16 years I heard many stories of how wonderful Brent was. I loved to watch Hayley’s face light up when she spoke of her brother and his beautiful family. Hayley was very proud of Brent and had a deep love for him. Godspeed and prayers for his wife and children.

Brent- You were a neighbor to all and the cornerstone of goodwill on our street. A man who put forth diplomacy and integrity. A great human being in our little piece of the world here in Cuernavaca. Peace.
Laura and family- We share in your loss and are always here for you.

The Lightfoot Family would like to extend our deepest condolences to the Hodges Family. We were neighbors in Larchmont & I grew up w/ Brent & Hayward. My parents Tom @ Margot Lightfoot were good friends w/ Forest & Peggy. My mother famously named him “Brent” when he was born. I have very fond Memories of growing up with the Hodges Family.

My deepest condolences to Brent's family and Bonnie and Red. Brent's mother, Peggy, and I were very close friends during the 80s when they lived in Larchmont in Houston and our kids were friends as well. We are deeply saddened for your loss of Brent. Marty Lee (formerly Bennett)

I am still at a loss for words. Brent was arguably the most genuine person I got to know personally and professionally. We got to know each other when I started covering Twins Liquor as a DSM in 2017. We met each other in person for the first time at a Twins reset in Houston, and we connected as friends immediately when we both shared our baseball stories. It didn’t stop at baseball, Brent and I are both family men, and we would always share stories about our wives and kids. Our last in person convo was centered around my wife and I planning to come up to Austin for a short vacation, and a possible dinner date with him and his wife. I took a promotion to a new role in July of 2020, and Brent was one of biggest cheerleaders that reached out to me personally. To the family, I send my deepest condolences to each of you. And to Brent, we will meet again brother.
