Darlene M. Roberts was born in Sundance, Wyoming on December 3, 1940, and passed away at the age of 77 in Colville on the July 3, 2018.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Ruth Clark, her husband, Wayne K. Roberts and two of their children and one of her great-grandchildren, Mackenzie.
Darlene is survived by her two sons, Quince W. Roberts and Richard A. Roberts, her brother John F. Clark, four grandchildren, Tamara, Matthew, Shannon, Courtney, five great-grandchildren, Tyler, Lillie, Seth, Cloe, Ian, as well as numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
Darlene graduated from Jenkins High School in Chewelah. She attended Whitworth College in the nursing program.
Growing up Darlene helped her parents with ranch chores and was active in 4-H and Youth Grange. She was always excited about any family gatherings and especially the Fourth of July reunion each year. As an adult she helped to organize the family reunion for many years.
Married to Warrant Officer Wayne K. Roberts, Darlene lived in many different places as well as spending seven years in Germany where the family took every opportunity to travel throughout Free Europe. She was also able to visit Chile and Peru in South America as well as Panama in Central America and our neighbors to the north and south.
Darlene held down different jobs in many different fields. She worked as a babysitter and retail store manager, sales clerk and co-owner of an air cargo company, secretary and milkmaid, and many more jobs.
Darlene had many different hobbies. Some of those would were fishing, travel, rock collecting, penguins, crocheting, knitting, and many more. She even got to pet a penguin at Sea World once. One of her rocks comes from what was the "no-man's land" in Berlin in between the East and West borders.
Darlene is remembered as giving generously of her time and abilities. She was a member of The Arden Home Makers Club. She held many different offices within the local and Pomona level of the Grange. She volunteered at the fair as a judge for the photography submissions after she had won several Blue Ribbons for her own submissions in years past. She quietly tried to help where she could even in her ailing years she looked for ways to help out others. She will be missed.
The memorial service for Darlene Roberts will be held at Grace Evangelical Free Church located at 851 South Miner Street, Colville WA on Monday the 29th of October at 11:00am.
