Norma Dunn Obituary

Norma Jean Dunn, a 39-year resident of Colville, WA, passed away on October 10, 2018, in Colville, WA, at the age of 76, following a courageous battle against cancer. Norma was born on Nov. 27, 1941, in Wenatchee, the daughter of William Edward and Mary Evelyn (Childress) Hensley.

She was raised in Wenatchee, where she graduated as a twelve year senior from Wenatchee High School. Norma then continued her education in East Wenatchee where she attended beauty school. In 1960, she was introduced to Wilfred "Willie" Dunn through mutual friends. After a dating for a year, they exchanged wedding vows on Nov. 24, 1961, in Wenatchee. They soon moved to Leavenworth and began a family. In 1968, they moved to Cashmere, WA, where her children began school. They would move to Colville 13 year later in 1979 where Norma and Willie have resided since.

Norma was in her element of glory as a wife, mother and eventually a grandmother and great grandmother. She loved to be there and watch her children grow. As a stay-at-home mom, her children loved how she was always their after school, how she made "home" a safe and fun place to stay with her ever present and playful spirit. Whether it was board games or cards, cookies or a cup of soup for the sniffles, Norma was there loving, laughing and caring for her family. She was also "Mama Uber," driving her kids to school, sporting practices, attending their games and served as a parental leader in their youth with the Webelos and Bluebirds. Norma was a techy-grandma and enjoyed many hours of computer games, communications and bible studies. Her wonderful sense of humor, contagious smile and constant outpouring of love to others, were only a few of her wonderful traits and reflections that made her simply "amazing."

She was a longtime member of TOPS and had lifelong roots in her Baptist faith.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 57 years, Wilfred "Willy" Dunn, WA; sons, William "Bill" Dunn (Becky), Todd Dunn (Belinda); daughter, Casandra "Sandy" Schauls (Yuri Simon), all of Colville, WA; grandchildren, Amanda Chen, Katie Leithhead, Stephanie Nauertz, Dustin Snyder, James and Jacoby Dunn, Gracie and Molly Schauls; great grandchild: Brendan Nauertz; brother, Don Hensley (Gloria) of Wenatchee, WA; sister, Rosalie Schlaefli (Wayne) of Brinnon, Dorothy Oakley of Wenatchee; brother, Larry Hensley (Chilang) of East Wenatchee; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of extended family.

A graveside service and vault interment for Mrs. Norma Jean Dunn will begin at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at the Mountain View Park Cemetery in Colville, WA. Memorial contributions may be given to Relay For Life.
