Paul Kirk Bender Obituary
Paul Kirk Bender a longtime resident of Colville, passed away on Nov. 2, 2016 at the age of 66. Paul was born in Bonners Ferry, Idaho on June 28, 1950. He was the son of Jesse "Jay" and Janet (Olson) Bender.

Paul graduated from Pomeroy High School in 1969. Soon after graduation, he attended Central Washington University, where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Special Education.

On July 28, 1973 he married the love of his life, Nancee Button, in Grand Coulee. Together they celebrated 43 wonderful years of marriage. Paul spent thirty-nine years dedicating his life to mentoring those that required extra assistance through their schooling. During these years, he was also involved in coaching volleyball, basketball and golf.

Paul retired in June 2016 and was looking forward to spending more time with his family.

He had a huge love of the outdoors and spent as much time as possible in a variety of activities. His love for helping people gave him opportunities to stay active in the community, and at one point even led him to run a Ropes/Challenge Course with his wife, Nancee. That course ran for 11 years.

Paul was loved by all the countless lives that he touched. He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Paul is survived by his wife, Nancee Button of Colville; a son, Justin Bender and wife, Stephanie of Colville; a sister, Teri Roskowyk of Spokane; his father, Jesse "Jay" Bender of Spokane.

In honor of Paul's request, there will be no service. Instead, in his preference, there will be an adult Irish wake held.
