MARVIN "TINY" DWIGHT AINSWORTH

January 22, 1932 - January 31, 2014

In memory of Marvin Dwight "Tiny" Ainsworth

Monmouth---Marvin "Tiny" Ainsworth passed away at home on Friday, January 31, 2014. Marvin was born January 22, 1932 in Port Angeles, Washington to Max and Esther Ainsworth. He graduated from Sequim High School, Sequim, Washington in 1951.

Marv joined the Navy on October 17, 1951. He served in the Korean War. While in the service he received the National Defense Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the China Service Medal and the Korean Service Medal (2), while being assigned to the USS DeHavenDD727.

Marv met Donna Marie Burns in Bandon, Oregon in 1950. While on leave in August of 1954, they were married in Eugene, Oregon, a marriage that lasted 59 ½ years.

After the service, Marv and Donna moved to Bandon where he worked in the timber industry. In 1959, they moved to Independence, where Marv worked for INPLY. In the early 1960's, the family moved to Monmouth and Marv began working at Leading Plywood, until his retirement in 1994.

After retirement, Marv and Donna enjoyed traveled throughout the country in their motorhome and taking cruises with longtime friends. In his retirement years, Marv enjoyed attending his grandchildren and great grandchildren's parties, school activities and visits from them.

Marv was a life member of the Independence Elks Lodge BPOE 1950, the AMVETS 1776 of Independence and the USS DeHaven DD727 Sailors Association.

Marv is survived by his wife Donna of 59 years; his two children: Michael Ainsworth (DeAnn) of Monmouth, Connie (Gene) Wendt of Olympia, Washington three grandchildren: Jeremy (Melanie) Ainsworth, Jena (Ben) Yliniemi and Tyler Wendt, three great grandchildren: Cassandra and Cyrus Ainsworth and Presley Yliniemi and a step sister Irene Lukey.

Services will begin at 1:00 pm Sunday, February 9th in the Independence Elks Lodge. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Willamette Valley Hospice at 1015 - 3rd St. NW Salem, Oregon 97304 or Union Gospel Mission of Salem, Oregon in care of the Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center at 287 SW Washington St. Dallas, Oregon 97338. Sometimes all we have left, are those wonderful memories, All the good times when we were young, the years we were all raising kids and taking time to raise a little Hell in between. Thank God we had our chance to spend so many great years together. Love you all. Dick and Judy Lofting
