Billy Austin(1936 - 2013)

BILLY CHARLES AUSTIN, 77, a resident of Monmouth died as a result of injuries received in a motor vehicle accident on Sunday, July 28, 2013. He was born on May 3, 1936 the son of Charles E. and Charlotte Jones Austin in Morrilton, Arkansas. Bill joined the US Army and then married his high school sweetheart Shirley Louise Hines on March 19, 1955. He was stationed in El Paso, Texas, Massachusetts and was discharged and lived in Texarkana, Arkansas. They moved to Concord, California where Bill worked for the DuPont Chemical Company for more than 27 years as an electrician. In 1995, they moved to Monmouth to a small farm. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Independence, N.R.A. and the Archers of Oregon. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, guns, attending senior Bible study, eating out with friends and helping others.

He is survived by his daughters Brenda (Chris) Austin Wenrich of Salem and Teresa (Todd) Tolzmann of Chico, California, a son Larry Austin of Grand Ronde, son-in-law Gordon Huyser of Texas along with six grandchildren Tasha, Kent, Brenden, Alyssa, Joshua and Rob. Also surviving are brothers David Austin of Dallas and Jim Williams of Concord, California. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Shirley Austin on December 4, 2006 and a daughter Nanci Huyser in 2011.

A memorial service will begin at 3:00 pm Tuesday, August 6th in the Independence First Baptist Church. Private interment will be in the Fir Crest Cemetery in Monmouth. Memorials are suggested to the Hope House, Nursing Home Ministries or the Union Gospel Mission all in care of the Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center at 287 SW Washington St. Dallas, Oregon 97338.
