Charlotte (Chapman) Shippey

Keizer - 1934-2018

Charlotte Shippey, a longtime resident of Keizer, died on July 2 at Salem Hospital, due to complications after heart surgery. Born in Peters, CA, her family eventually settled in Brookings, OR where she graduated from high school and met her first husband, Curtis Chapman, Jr. She was a great mom to her three kids—Kathy, David and Mark. After Curtis' death she worked for US Bank in Keizer as a teller—she loved her job helping customers in her community. In 1989 she met and married Gerald Shippey (deceased), and loved being a part of the Shippey family.

Charlotte was amazingly talented—she spent a lifetime creating things from fabric and yarn. Her passion after retirement was quilting—she made over 1000 quilts in her lifetime, many that went to women and families in need. She has left a legacy of her fabric artwork that will be cherished for years to come.

A devout Christian, she was gracious and kind to everyone. She will be dearly missed by all who loved her—her quilting groups; her children and their spouses; her grandchildren and great grandchildren; her Sunday school and church friends; her Starbucks group (she loved her vanilla lattes), her extended family and all the other people she touched along the way.

A private memorial service will be held at the quilting studio she loved to sew at.
