Thank you Dan! If it wasn't for you so many of us would not have been able to involve so many thousands in community art projects because your idea would not be in our collective consciousness. Was so nice meeting you when you came to Galveston to see our SeeWall mural project, which involved 14,000 people!

Dear Estelle, Michael, Larry, and Family,
I send our deepest sympathy and condolences to you upon learning of Dan Robbins' passing. Dan will definitely be remembered for the joy and happiness his invention brought many children. I grew up learning to paint and to 'stay within the lines' by using the paint-by-numbers he invented. I still remember the excitement I felt when I received my first paint-by-numbers kit. I am thankful to him for his invention, and I have many fond memories of it.
Please cherish your good memories and may they provide some comfort for you. May prayers strengthen you and cherished memories comfort you, and may Gods loyal love always comfort and sustain you. Psalm 119:76

Dear Larry Robbins please accept our sincere condolences on the loss of your dear father. Your father's invention brought so much enjoyment to myself and my sister when we were children growing up in the 1960's. It allowed those of us who were not born with the gift of being able to paint to enjoy the creative process. It gave us tremendous satisfaction. We are sending our deepest sympathy along with prayers that, the God of peace be with you and your family and bless you with peace constantly and in every way during this difficult time. We are so very sorry for your loss.

Heartfelt condolences for your loss. Indeed Dan created something that is woven into the tapestry of the consciousness of a kinder, gentler America. Children and adults alike were entertained and encouraged by something as simple as painting by numbers. Unlike the pictures that were posted for days on the fridge, these works of art graced the walls of homes for many years. May God bless America with many more Dan Robbins! May God bless you as you deal with your grief.

I thank Mr. Robbins for the paint-by-the-numbers picture that my mother painted in 1958 or 1959. I still have the photo on our wall, and it's the photo of The Last Supper. And by coincidence or whatever, earlier in the waning days of winter we had sunlight come through our living room window, then reflect off a plastic-framed picture that we keep on shelves, then the reflection reflected off a mirror, then onto The Last Supper picture where the light surrounded Jesus Christ's head.
