Salem - March 4, 1930 - May 13, 2018

Ernest was born March 4, 1930 in Lebanon, Oregon to Giles "George" P. Looney & Gladys V. Looney. He was the youngest of 8 children. While growing up Ernest worked many jobs such as; picking hops & helped build the trail at Cape Lookout State Park in 1948 up to the plane crash & to the cape point. He graduated in 1948 from Salem High School. He met Norma Jean Weaver at a basket ball game & they married on April 4,1952. Ernest worked at Star Foods Cannery for 20 years & then moved on to work at the U.S. Postal Service & retired from there after 19 years in 1986. He had also served as president of the Mail Handlers Union. His hobbies included; coin collecting, gardening, hunting, fishing, and camping with his family. He enjoyed feeding & watching his humming birds too. His wife Norma preceded him in death July 22, 2017. He is survived by his 102 yr. old sister Ella Macomber of Salem. Also, his children; Jerry, Linda Wells (Franklin}, Debra Bassett (Robert), Michael (Kathryn), Kevin (Cindy}, Carla Ehrmantraut; 8 grandchildren & 12 great grandchildren. He has numerous nieces & nephews as well. He was a hard worker & wonderful provider for his family who he loved dearly. He will be missed by all here but will be at peace & together with his soulmate Norma.

Gravesite service Friday, May 18, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Memorial Park Cemetery, 2010 Township Rd., Canby, OR 97013.
