Hubert B. Erwin Obituary
Hubert B. Erwin

Salem - Hubert Baird Erwin (Hugh) was our tuba playing, witty, and much-loved dad. Surrounded by his loving children, he finished his earthly journey on June 7, 2018 just shy of his 90th birthday. Raised in Tulare, California, he was born in Oakland to Harry & Katherine Baird Erwin on Sep 6, 1928. He graduated from Cal Berkeley, married our mother, Wanda Sharp, and enlisted in the Navy. Following his service in Korea, they settled in the Bay Area and he began his distinguished career as a CPA. He was active in many service organizations, including Lions Club, California Lung Association, and his church, usually serving as treasurer. After retiring from his practice, they moved to Salem to be closer to their children. His retirement was short-lived however and he soon began doing tax work with a local CPA firm, working well into his 89th year. He enjoyed playing his Tuba with the NW Banjo Band, camping trips with his family, and continued his involvement with Lions Club, achieving Lifetime status.

Dad is survived by his children, Deborah Medley (Joe); Jeffrey Erwin (Margaret); Jane Pope (Jeff); Jennifer Furlong (Don) & Michiko Ishiguro. He also leaves his sister Jean Eccleston, sister-in-law Shirley Hammes, 7 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren & 6 nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by our mom in 2016, and grand-daughter Robin in 2012. He leaves many friends who loved him dearly.

Services will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1998 Lansing Ave NE, Salem on Sunday June 17 at 2:00 pm. Interment at Willamette National on Monday. Memorials may be made to Ron Wilson Center or Camp Lutherwood.

Arrangements by City View Funeral Home.
