Dr. Louisa M.T. Silva Obituary
Dr. Louisa M.T. Silva

Salem - Dr. Louisa M.T. Silva, was born in London, England on September 29, 1954 and passed away peacefully in Salem, Oregon on January 2, 2018. Her family migrated to Australia when Louisa was 8. Five years later the family left Australia for the United States. She lived in California through her teen years and attended UCLA undergraduate and medical schools. Louisa did a short stint in rural Kentucky, working in a local clinic before moving to Oregon. She moved to Salem in 1981, joining Drs. Morrison and Holme in their family medicine practice. One New Year's Eve, she had a dream of a clinic named for Our Lady of Guadalupe. Thanks to enormous support from the Community, the Clinic opened a year later, and is still open. Dr. Silva opened her own practice in the 1990's with an emphasis on Chinese medicine and acupuncture. Over the years she became interested in researching and treating Autism, which became her passion. She ultimately founded Qigong Sensory Training Institute (Q.S.T.I.) for the training of a massage technique for treatment of symptoms of autism. She wrote several books on Autism and Downs Syndrome treatment. She retired recently due to health issues. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rhoie and Jason Eiler, her two grandsons, J.J. and Joseph, her siblings Andrew, Monique and Paul and their children.

A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. Donations may be made to Q.S.T.I at P.O. Box 705, Salem, Oregon 97308.
