Steven Clifford Davidson

Salem - Steven "Steve" Davidson passed away on the morning of May 22, 2018. Steve was born and raised in Salem, graduating from South Salem High School in 1969. During his time in school Steve developed many interests, including photography, astronomy, and running. He loved to tell the story of racing against Steve Prefontaine in high school.

He continued his running career at the University of Arizona where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Physics and a minor in astronomy. He returned to Salem and married Merry O'Dell. Steve began working for the Salem-Keizer public school district as a senior systems analyst. 18 years later he left the school district and traveled around the USA as a photographer and consultant, settling for a short time in both Arizona and Texas before returning to Salem to work in a family business, Photos By Orion, with his son Orion and daughter-in-law Kathryn.

Steve is survived by his two children, Orion (Kathryn) and Josh (Alicia) Davidson, and his 4 grandchildren Emma, MaKaylee, Auron and Rinoa. Steve was predeceased by brother Kenneth in 1978, by father Carol in 1979 and mother Wilma in 2018. He is also survived by sisters Cheryl Burleon, Candace (Alan) Stiers, Iva Grenya (Lorie Henthorn) and brother Rob (Audrey) Davidson and many nieces and nephews.

Steve was a kind person who always looked for the good in people. He had a quirky sense of humor, loving to tell puns whenever he could. He also enjoyed networking with people, especially in an official capacity for Photos By Orion at the Keizer Chamber of Commerce. Steve always left an impression with everyone he met and will be missed in the community.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life service at Our Savior's Lutheran Church to be held on the evening of June 17th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. For directions please contact Orion Davidson at [email protected] Assisiting the family is Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.
